Fiorentina v West Ham - Thoughts?

I turned it off after an amateurish first half. Was the second any better?

The season ticket holders pelting the corner kick taker were an absolute disgrace. I hope UEFA throw the book at them.

Second half did improve, well it had some goals at least!

Also a bit of controversy over the handball/ penalty.

Not a penalty for me, but I also thought the Grealish 'handball' wasnt a penalty in the Final last week. I understand that's the letter of the law now, but its getting ridiculous.

I can see WHU getting a hefty fine, but for me they should hit them where it hurts, stadium closure for the europa league next season for a game or 2.

UEFA wont like it, thats embarrisng for them, scenes like that during a final.

Why wouldn't it be a penalty?

He pushed the ball out of Bowen's path with his hand, his hand moved towards the ball, if he hadn't pushed it away illegally then Bowen would have had the ball under control and could have had a shot on goal.

It's not the same as the Grealish incident where the ball was headed at and touched his finger but didn't impact the trajectory in any significant way, and didn't prevent a shot on goal.

Both are penalties under the current laws, but I think the one last night should be a penalty regardless.

When I first saw it I didn't think it was a penalty but changed my mind when I saw it from a different angle. You can clearly see his hand goes towards the ball.

Not for me, I wouldnt be happy if we were at the receiving end of one of those. Soft to say the least.

But only my opinion, I've learnt over the years that doesn't count for much so dont worry.

I'm having a hard time finding a linkable clip of the incident, I'm only finding photos, because it's fairly blatant from the second angle.

I'd accept the handball if that was given against us.

I wouldn’t be happy with the Grealish one.

No need to find a clip mate, I've seen it plenty of times, and I think its soft.

Like I said last night, I didn't think it was a penalty but when you see it from the other angle, it is clear cut. You can see his hand goes towards the ball and move away from the WHU player.

.... a side note;

What the fcuk is Carlton Cole all about?

I dont think he was able to string a sentence together all night. Potentially the thickest pundit to cover a match.

It was painful watching him try and converse 😂
I don’t mind him when he’s on the radio but when him and Joe Cole cover West Ham games they are unbearable! Like two school kids talking over a game of fifa the way they go on. Felt sorry for the other bloke they had on next to them.

Glad am well away from the West Ham love-in following “an iconic moment that will be talked about for generations”It’s the bloody Europa Conference League ffs

Absolute scummy set of fans though, clashes with riot police, running battles in the streets. Wounding an opposition player as he was attempting to take a corner.

Overshadows the whole thing, the club should be totally shamed.

I have not seen them make an apology yet? Maybe I've missed it.

The commentary was abysmal last night, and the coverage today on BBC Radio 2 is equally as vomit inducing. if I hear the phrase "West Ham are massive" again I'll probably pull my ears off.
It was dreadful.
I don't know who did the research for the lass that was the lead anchor, but coming out with cack like 'West Hams first silverware in 58 years', and 'the greatest night in West Hams history' was poor.
She did correct this later on to 'European silverware' mind.

Absolutely this. Takes any shine off the victory for me and seems to be shamefully overlooked.
