Five guys

Five Guys got a positive mention (as a place to take the kids) in The Times on Saturday, from Esther Walker (Giles Coren's missus).

Give Burger @ding a try, operating out of Alchemy & Co next to TS1 in town, far better than 5 Guys and ran by a local lad who is just starting out.

A burger is a burger.

Thats like saying a sausage is a sausage. Most brands of supermarket sausages I would not buy but I am always looking out for decent sausages. Goodswens first port of call these days. Likewise a burger is not just a burger. 60% of burgers are rubbish 30% are alright but when you get a burger in that top 10% they are sublime. That said I rarely order burgers when out for a meal as there is a good chance they will be mediocre.
Had one from 5 Guys in Newcastle and it was in the alright group and also one from the Mill in Stokesley which was top end of alright.

Went for one the other day.

Distinctly average burger and the drinks are syrupy *****.
Don't understand the hype.

I will say that I can see why other people would like the chips, but they've got a nutty taste from the peanut oil which puts me off, but seeing as that's because I don't like nuts, I'm not going to criticise them for it.
