Football Banning Orders..........

How do they work? How are they enforced / checked upon? I've never been ID checked going in.

What's to stop a mate or a family member buying a ST card or matchday ticket, handing it over and you just going anyway?

Is there some level of enforcement or checking up on where you are at 1500 on a Saturday?

Anyone got any experience of them?

Each police force has "spotters" who keep their eyes out for those on the banning list, and most are already known to the police anyways due to multiple offences over multiple seasons and so fairly easy to identify.

However if you get one for a one off offence (throwing something on the pitch as an example) then you can pretty much do what you've described. I know a lad who did it many years ago.

Cheers lizards, about what I expected.

Clubs and police have a huge amount of intelligence on fans. My FOI to Staffordshire on the Stoke policing came back with page after page of redacted details on specific people.

Someone with an FBO can get into the ground (and I'm sure lots do) but eventually they get spotted and dragged out. I think that's what happened in the South Stand about 5 minutes after kick-off in the last home game, because someone got dragged out when there had been no trouble or fuss whatsoever.

I think I'd quite enjoy disguising myself. If you went alone and in a different stand then I doubt you'd be spotted. I'm sure I've got some of those glasses with an attached nose and moustache somewhere.

Not sure if this still applies, Once over you had to
report to the Police Station at kick off times,
If we played in Europe you had to surrender your
Passport the day before the game.

I remember going on a stag do during the 2006 World Cup. One of the lads had a banning order. He needed to provide evidence of his trip and then check in with the Spanish plod every morning.

A blonde wig, make-up, ear-rings, false boobs........... etc etc?

Probably depends on the individual conditions but I'm pretty sure if have a banning order and subsequently found in breach the outcome can be more stringent, fine etc....

A case of the order not being a massive deterrent in itself but the consequence of breach is.

Mate of mine got dragged out by having a swifty from a hip flask, surely a flare carrier can be spotted easily.
How do you know they are not spotted? I can tell you many have been spotted at Boro games this season and "spoken to" - by spoken to - it could mean they are then educated, banned, prosecuted etc. They often film themselves or friends film them and so get caught red handed. Literally.

Masks must be good for something, a free disguise.

A football banning order is very specific in it’s entirety and is placed on an individual’s PNC record. It contains exclusion zones for both home and away matches with associated times where you are not allowed anywhere near these zones. You also have to surrender your passport at the time of England Internationals and/or any Euro domestic games. If the order is breached, the recipient can end up with a custodial sentence. Hope that is useful.
