Former Southampton & #Boro midfielder, Neil Maddison, believes "it wouldn't feel right" for #SaintsFC to be expelled from the Play-Off Final, but wish

Boro fans have not made him a target, he's made himself a target. He always sounds as though he's as thick as a castle door, I'm sure MFC will find someone better when his contract ends.
What's he says has no bearing on the outcome. People are too quick to shoot people down these days for saying something they don't like

Very ill-thought out comments given his employment status, but he's entitled to his opinion regardless.
I do think he's burned his bridges with that comment and he'll have to see how the IDC decision goes as to how he'll be received next season.
If they allow Southampton to go to Wembley then he'll be tarred with the same brush as them.

It’s not hard mate. They broke the rules and gained a sporting advantage by doing so. Even if it was us having to change our tactics slightly.. games are won by fine margins.

It’s unfortunate for the fans and the players and it doesn’t feel right.. because it wasn’t right. They have been cheated out of their hard work and their moments. But that is not on us and we should not have to pay for the consequences of Southampton’s actions.

Whilst I wouldn’t have put myself in the situation of giving that interview if I were him, it’s not something that I can be arzed to get overly precious about (although he may wake up tomorrow morning to find that Lady Falicia has skilfully evacuated a turd through his letterbox).

Of course I would and my employer wouldn't care what my opinion was or that I voiced it. They don't police my thoughts.
They don't, but say you took to social media and announced to thousands of followers that the new product they were launching was cr*p, you'd be held to have damaged the company's material interests and would probably be fired.

Of course he is entitled to his opinion but that doesn't mean he is entitled to continue to earn money from his association with boro.

I love that we have free speech but it doesn't mean that speech is free of consequences.

This is a circle the wagons job in my opinion.
So you think someone shouldn’t be allowed to comment on Boro games, if their opinion isn’t 100% alligned with the club? That’s just stupidity, someone working in the media should be free to express their own opinions. Having someone commenting just because they are repeating what the club want them to say would be like something out of North Korea

It’s hardly controversial to think that Southampton probably shouldn’t and won’t be kicked out of the playoffs

If the product was crap they wouldn't launch it.

Go lookup infosys core principles.

Just listened to this. Maddo says us & we many times. Very clear whom he has the affinity to. The headline is to suit the radio stations agenda for their audience. He said he would feel not right taking a place in a final but said they cheated and clearly having a pop at a club he played for. He of course has a soft spot for them but I am reassured after listening that he is not undermining Boro. Many fans have expressed a view they would feel strange playing the final after losing.

Christ it's a painful listen that.

We all know he's not a particularly deep thinker but it's pretty clear from that he's out of his depth on this topic. He doesn't really articulate why that's his view, more just it's his opinion based on "feels".

I also suspect he's floundering a bit there because he doesn't want to upset his other club too much.

I wouldn't want him taken off commentary duty for that.

I'd have him taken off because "expert" is doing some heavy lifting with his job title of "expert summariser". But that's always been the case.
I think he struggled to express himself because he had to use
For me 'it doesn't feel right' (any more) to be listening to Neil Maddison commenting on Boro games. His weird slipping between 'You..' and 'We...' when he talks about Boro has always bothered me anyway. Off you trot, 'Maddo'
I think that will be his legacy. He's invented a new tense. I sit there thinking he's blaming me for our failure to score. 'you've had the possession but you just haven't taken advantage, you can't expect to win a game like that'. He almost has me in tears sometimes.

“His statement reflects a broader sentiment among some Saints supporters that expulsion would be a major blow to morale and the club’s reputation
Reputation, yer joking aren’t you 🤥

Southampton are being very quiet. 🤐

A lot has been written about Boro being contacted by other championship teams -
I wonder how many Southampton have contacted, as well as Premiership teams as well 🤔

Let’s see their response on Tuesday……………
