Frank Lampard offered Everton Job

It is astonishing how the stars are aligning to keep Leeds or Newcastle (possibly even both!) up.

Watford, Burnley and Everton seem determined to give some drama to a relegation scrap which should have had Newcastle and Norwich buried and Leeds slipping in with their defeats, but this may really dump Everton in it.

Will make for a great Championship away day in that lovely new ground.

“Strange” things always seem to happen to keep Everton up.
Who let’s be honest have been average for years now.

Really can’t see them going down. Think they’ve missed Calvert Lewin. Also without looking I’d guess their terrible run coincided with Richarlison being out for a few weeks. If either or both of them get back to anywhere near what they are capable of they will be fine.

Personally I’d like to see Richarlison go to City, (as a somewhat outside of the box suggestion as opposed to obvious choices - Kane, Lewandowski, Haaland, Mbappe etc). I think he could be perfect as their striker. Would score plenty of goals but also get involved in the play as opposed to ‘just’ being a goal scorer.

Watford should be harder to beat now Roy is on..
Burnley.. need to shape up, if the new striker his the ground running, they may be ok.
Everton should have enough..
Would love to see Newcastle down - Saudi owners & killing of missing critic -though I think even Howe may be able to get the out of it, just.

Who’s the striker Burnley have signed?

I think Lampard will do ok in the short term at Everton. he seems to be quite good at giving everyone a lift, which will be enough for him for 6 months or so.

He'll keep them up and then get a couple of Chelsea's best young players on loan next season. They'll start well but eventually tail off, finishing 9th or 10th or lower and getting nowhere in the cups, and he'll be sacked or resign early in the following campaign because the fans will have turned with the team in 15th despite creasing another £90m in the transfer market. Then Everton will appoint Rooney. And the same thing will happen with him.

They do just enough each srason to not be dragged in to the relegation dogfight, now & again theyll challenge the top 6 to dro away to, as you say, midtable finiishes

Bob you have made a case for everybody surviving there.

It's just the way it is. It is so difficult to crack into the Champions League places. Leicester have almost done it but the sheer might of others gets them through in the end. Ironically, the man who is currently best placed to challenge the status quo is their former manager in David Moyes, who is doing an incredible job with West Ham.

I think clubs like Everton, Villa, Wolves, the best they can hope for is *possibly* 6th at a push and to try and win a cup. Leicester did it, but they're run properly by the looks of it. Getting into the Champions League if you're not one of the self-proclaimed Super League clubs is nigh-on impossible.

Confirmed now. Just what he’s been waiting for. Donny van de Beek has agreed to join Frank so must fancy their chances more than the Geordies who he turned down.
