Surely not, the last player you'd want defending the current best attacking player in the world is Alexander-Arnold.

A large part of Mbappe’s game is blistering/unplayable pace. How do you counteract that? I know his game isn’t just about that but if you take it away he’s not the same player.

Don't allow the ball to be played to him when we have a high line. Don't give him space to run into. Out of possession, I have no doubt we will get behind the ball and try and force them out to their right and starve Mbappe of ball. If he does get the ball, it's pretty obvious you cannot let him come in on his right foot to curl one.

We have to minimise his ball time, delay him and double up when we can

I’d switch to a back 3 too and stick Trippier out there to give Walker a helping hand. Go with the 3 solid midfielders and give Kane a partner upfront with a bit of pace.

Keep it tight and solid first half then change it up second half by bringing on our pace, creativity and threat and go for the jugular

Bellingham has been great so far but if you are looking at it with a less English bias then France have Camavinga who has been doing similar things as Bellingham while winning a champions league for Real Madrid. They just haven't needed him yet. England's midfield has Bellingham, a West Ham player and 2 others that don't feature for their clubs so France are definitely stronger in that area. All playing well so far though so no complaints about them but they are definitely not of the calibre as France's.

Our defence is definitely weaker.

France is the better team and have the confidence and belief to win the big games. England are capable of beating them, but it's going to come down to their mentality. Will they take the chances they create? Can they handle Mbappe, but not forget about the rest of their forwards? Will the French gain control of midfield and therefore the game? These are the questions England need to find an answer to.
