Agreed and both great albums.Maybe not all of it but Heaven Has No Wings is pure Geese. Guess Ellis is probably a bit more conventionally melodic.

Yeah I think there are hints of that to be fair. Probably indicative of a band who know where they sit in the pecking order. Persistence for reward I guess, most of the openers tend to be sound collages which set some context for what follows but appreciate it's not for everyone. Even I, a huge fan of the band, have been known to skip them from time to time.Struggling with the idea of wanting to ward off the casual listener. Seems a bit elitist to me.
I think Cobra is the best track too, Tom, and I really had to persevere with the whole album but it has grown on me.They’re fine but the album is pretty dull, I really expected more the way everyone has been going on about them on here.
Cobra is a stand out track for me, that’s the only one.
I am keeping listening a bit but I do find a lot of tracks boring, it actually reminds me of Alabama Shakes…but not as good haha.I think Cobra is the best track too, Tom, and I really had to persevere with the whole album but it has grown on me.
No, not at all! I agree that it certainly could come across that way but I can also see the rationale in some cases. In Bright Eyes' case I think there probably was some gatekeeping there, trying to avoid gaining attention from the "wrong type" of fan, BE being an indie band through and through and probably not in it for either fame or fortune.Sorry @changingman that wasn't a targeted dig. I was discussing this the other day with someone. I just can't get my head round why someone would purposely do that. If it's to remove the 'casual' fan...that seems a bit pretentious.
