Really hope Ghana get their revenge here - felt so sorry for them in 2010 after that Suarez handball and somehow losing. Don't think this team is anywhere near that great Ghanaian side but be nice to see them qualify at La Celeste's expense. The unfairness of that game has always rankled.

Am I right that, had Suarez not hand-balled, Ghana would have likely been the first African nation to make the World Cup semi final?

Yep.

Feel so sorry for Ghana for that, but I don't blame Suarez at all for doing it.

Rightly sent off, but he saved his country, literally.

It's one of those occasions when you wished football had a penalty goal like they have penalty try in rugby. On the line, certain goal, nothing lost in taking a sending-off and Ghana have to go back 12 yards and they promptly miss - then lose the shoot out. Moreover, Ghana were easily the better more progressive side and fully deserved the win.

robbed...

Bit of a tangent but reminds me of a playing a league game at soccer sensations years ago.

at the time the rule was if the keeper rolled it to you, you couldnt pass it straight back to them without someone else taking a touch. If you did it was a penalty.

anyway someone panicked and gently passed it straight back. Our keeper moves out of the way and just watches it slowly roll into the empty net for a goal.

"What did you do that for?"

"sorry lads. I couldn't touch it. It would've been a penalty " 🙈😂

I don't like Suarez, but why would he not do that if it gave his country a chance? I would have done the same. If it's 'unfair' then every missed penalty is surely 'unfair'?
The TV companies are certainly trying to build it up as a 'grudge match'
