Gibson is no fool

I think he's held onto the Spence and tav money for a new broom. Wilder was never going to have Gibson's trust after talking to Burnley. Wilder like McLaren a manager gibson couldn't trust if he said the grass was green
I do think you could be right, things were seemingly different after 'Burnleygate' and despite being linked with some big money moves none have happened.

He's made some dreadful mistakes in the past. He might not be a fool but he's not infallible either. Appointing Southgate was so far away from being a good decision. I got the impession being able to force it through when he wasn't even qualified was a chance for a bit of publicity. Woodgate isn't bright enough to run a football club, Gibson thinking he is worries me. His judge of character when appointing people like Monk is questionable. Karanka was his besdt appointment since McClaren, as was bringing in Orta, working with Kenyon and (was it Mendes?) was a sign of moving away from the parochial way of operating but then falling out with Karanka (and Orta) and allowing us to disappear out of the PL with Agnew in charge was atrocious.

Hopefully he gets it right this time. It is supposed to be Scott's job to identify a manager for continuity purposes so all Gibson has to do is trust the person he's hired to do that job and sign-off on the recommendation.

I’ve seen people say he’ll go cheap and quick etc but I don’t think so.

I think he may surprise us.
We tried to go cheap in the summer and reinvest barely any of the Tav/Spence money, not sure what makes you think he will actually bring a decent manager in. With our recent history attracting a decent manager here will be some job too

He puts his hand deeper into his pocket than just about anyone else in the Championship.
No he doesn't. He uses the Group Balance Sheet, but loans Boro money, he doesn't give it.
Other owners inject equity, not just loans. Gibson doesn't.

Gibson no fool?
Football and finances in reverse gear since 2006. When is it his responsibility?
Only 4 clubs are bigger financial basket cases than us in British football right now.
How many managers now in what timescale?
He couldn't pick his own nose.
