Glastonbury Tickets

Loved it when I did it years ago but I think it would be a bit overwhelming these days. Camping doesn't have the allure it once did either, haha.

For those who missed out, you could do much much worse than End of the Road in Dorset. Friendly, manageable size and usually some top bookings. Can lug your booze around the too, just like Glasto. We've done it 4 or 5 times and it's always great.

After really enjoying it last year we're looking at Way out West in Gothenburg again next year. Sleep in a hotel, brilliant city and the festival itself is incredibly well run. Touch pricey for drinks though!

Most Festivals really are overrated - you usually get a better atmosphere at a little indoor gig with a few hundred there, and the band aren’t a dot in the distance as the rain plops down on your bounce 😵‍💫 Next gig for me is Skids at The Georgian next Friday, and i bet it’ll be a better atmosphere than Glasto 😃
Yeah you're right, that's why people keep going every year because it's so overrated.

Oooo might need to check that out. Gothenburg is a great city, I effectively lived there for 9 months Mon-Fri at the Clarion Post hotel that used to be the old post office building.

I do think it's strange how some people have tried and tried year after year and never ever get anywhere near a ticket, and some people get one every single year.

A group of people I know (around 10 or 12 of them) were all buzzing on their social channels yesterday after all getting tickets for something like the 13th Glastonbury in a row.

Maybe they're just really lucky.

Glastonbury is now essentially a middle aged, middle class, Instagram opportunity
Is it realllllllly though, or is that just your jaded outlook on life that means you have to pooh-pooh it for those that go and love it?

I've got mates that go and they love it. No such thing as middle class anyway, and nothing wrong with posting on instagram.

Jealous! It's probably my favourite city. Been trying to sort a move there for a while but quite a bit more difficult these days.

I know that very hotel - last time I was there was during the International Hotel and the lobby was full of antique "tack" (I think that's the term?! haha)

I would have given that a swerve but likely to be some special guests -
Ed Sheeran, Macca etc

Double swerve ……..

I think even if you don't like him massively, being at his final uk appearance would be pretty cool, imagine will be a good show.
Agreed and lucky to have tickets. Grabbed campervan ticket yesterday.

Not a big Elton fan but he is a Legend (who can no longer sing) but I’m sure he will do a lot of his older better stuff. Or his band will at least.

I love Elton John, and a big regret i haven’t been able to see him ever. If people think Macca’s voice had gone, just wait for Elton next year! Will still be a great show with all the hits. Which I’ll miss because I’ll be in Sweden 🙃

It's weird. 2005 was my first year, and I've got tickets to every one barring 2010 (when I didn't try) and 2020 (which eventually happened in 2022) as I was just unsuccessful. It's definitely getting harder though. I last managed to get tickets myself in 2017, 2019 my girlfriend's family were also going and they managed to get through for us, "2020" we failed, and 2023 a friend go through on our behalf. So I've not had a sniff of a booking screen since 2017 now, personally. I previously thought I had the Midas touch, but now I think it largely is "luck" and how many people you've got trying for you etc.

You should stay there to the 8th. His last ever show will be in Sweden.

Not sure Pulp will headline but might play? Arctic Monkeys will be another headliner I think - could do a Sheffield night with Pulp on beforehand? :)

We caught Elton's (second to) last gig in NYC in the Summer - I've been a fan for years having seen him solo ages ago. He was absolutely brilliant, much better than I expected actually. His voice sounded great and it was a very good set. Obviously heavy on the hits with one or two lesser known songs thrown in.

Talk of Roxy Music doing the legends spot next year too, Roxy and Elton would be a decent way to close out the festival.

Fair point about not headlining - in mind they should! But definitely in the ‘older act’ bracket now. And Richard Hawley’s always knocking about, another for the Sheffield night.

Isn't Bryan Ferry not well so Roxy Music may not do the legends slot. Pulp will play but I think they will have agreements with other festivals so will probably do a "secret" set in somewhere like the Park like they did last time, because they were headlining Leeds/Reading. If they play officially they will headline I think.
