Good on ya Woody

At last he's enjoying been a member of a so far, successful management team, along with Michael Carrick they've given the club a massive uplift

At the time I went on record as saying I was happy Woodgate took over as our manage after listening to his ideas of he wanted us to play
Luton & the 1st half v Brentford, you could see how he wanted us to play, then it sort of fell away & in the end was relieved of his duties & as they say, the rest is history

For me he's shown his character with wanting to get back in the firing line & becone, so far, part of a successful duo, he didnt deserve the spiteful naming calling that followed his announcement, Michael Carricks happy with him & so should us Boro fans

I'm made up for him. He's a Boro lad and you could see how much it hurt him getting sacked. Yet always talked fondly about his time and never criticised anyone.

It takes some balls from both employer and woody to go back. It's clear Gibson feels he has something.

I was hoping to see an interview from him. I'm not sure the club has done one? It would be interesting to hear how it came about and his feelings about coming back. I imagine it was a no brainer decision. I've not read or watched anything about it.

It's very rare in football that it was have been kept as quiet as it was. It came out of the blue. It's rare you see a 'reveal' like that without it breaking on twitter or even on here before hand.

IIRC, around the time of his removal from management he attended Gary Parkinsons charity event at the Beecwood & Easterside & was more than happy to stand among Boro fans, have photos with fans, which I got one & sign autographs

Don't think he has given an interview.

Sensible, as a proportion of the fans would simply twist everything he said, read between the lines and simply use whatever he said to feed their own narrative that he's a flash bast*rd, sh*t manager, he'll take us down, jobs for the boys etc etc etc etc.

Just keep him in the background until the time is right for him to speak to the media.👍

I'm delighted things are going so well for him now. I just hope he can further influence our defence. Despite the nigh-on miraculous transformation since MC came aboard, there are still times when opposition attackers run straight through us. Let's hope Woody can pass on some of his own magic, he was the best reader of a game I can remember seeing in a Boro shirt.

Happy with the turnaround in form. I hope we can keep it going.

I'm not, and will never be, in favour of his appointment. Sorry, but there you go.

Phelan pls.

So, if we go on a long winning run and take the Championship, you'll still be unhappy. Wow.

Great point E74. I was also pleased he rejoined us. I love his enthusiasm and I think he connects well with the players. Morale is such an important facet and something that was missing earlier in the season as CW unravelled
Cheers Cardiff 👍

Wasn't it said that the first choice changed their mind over wanting to relocate over here so they turned to Woodgate?

Aside from the awareness of his last stint here I always thought it was a sensible appointment; know the club, knows many of the playing staff, especially the youth talent and has a good reputation as a coach.

Carrick was obviously keen, which is the only opinion that really matters too.

I'm sure René Meulensteen will land after the WC and asking with Grant we look to have a good coachng team.

I was Ok with Woody at the time but the team did go on two separate 10 game runs without a win which was really painful. Think we got 5 draws and 5 losses from each run . Included in the 2nd run was 3 successive games where we were 18th and had to play Wigan ,Luton and Barnsley all below us and we came away with just 1 point. Horrendous times. We played shxte too. Friend being out didn't help him, neither did having to play Howson at RB for half the season. Saville did nowt that season and loans of Nmecha and Morrison were awful. Then having a 3 and a half month shutdown because of covid would hinder any rookie manager. Bizarre season all round. Glad Warnock came in and we avoided the drop.

Good post Erimus, I wish him nothing but success. He clearly cares so much about the club and the area. What happened a couple of years ago will have hurt him badly and he now has a great chance to redeem himself and go on to have a successful coaching career. I always think a management team should include someone with knowledge of the club and the area and Woody fits the bill perfectly. Good luck Woody, UTMB!
