Got to change Friday

Not Carrick's style but, having said that, I was amazed at the number of subs he made on Saturday. He even made a sub at half time! Definitely under pressure.

Iheanacho, Azaz, Barlaser and probably several others are not ‘in your face’ type players, so I’m not sure you’re going to get what you’re hoping for.

We don’t have that nastiness to really upset or bully teams.

The team should have known what was required after the Sunderland defeat but we didn’t get it. Then they should have known what was required against Watford after the sense of mounting pressure and seeing the Red Faction banner but again we didn’t get it and went in at HT to boos. Even after going in at HT to boos we still only drew the second half 0-0 and lost the game, so again no reaction.

I think they know what is required, they just don’t have the confidence or mentality for it at the minute.

Of course he is under pressure. League form dictates that. He needs a victory on Friday otherwise that pressure just builds. I hope the players give it all for him.

Crying out for Leadbitter in the middle again. God knows what we do with the defence though, park the bus?

The Millwall-Preston draw last night leaves us 2 points above 15th place
On the other hand if we win our game in hand we're 1 point off the play offs
Extremely tight from 6th to 15th

To quote Roy Keane, they just need to "do your job".

It's not been so much about fight this season as about frequent lapses in concentration.

Work hard and concentrate. Make better decisions. Communicate properly. Take responsibility.

I wouldn't be opposed to a tweak in formation, but not sure it's essential if we can improve on all the other little factors that have let us down so far this season.

I want to see players demanding the ball. I want to see the wide players working their nuts off tracking back to support their full back. Centre backs taking it as a personal insult if anyone dares set foot in our box.

Hopefully there's a bit of siege mentality building now. If the players still back Carrick and want him to stay in the job, there needs to be.

I think this is pretty much the feeling amongst most supporters.. we're just not seeing the fight. I'm sure any fan would agree that you can accept getting beat by a better technical team who pass the ball around like you're not there, but when you're losing games without showcasing spirit, determination or anything to get the crowd on your side, then it generates this frustration.

Switch to a 3 at the back.

Travers, Fry, VDB, Edmundson, Giles, Dijksteel, Morris, Barlaser, Hackney, Forss, Burgzorg.

Willing runners up top, pack the middle and grind out a result.

As mentioned by Festa it is now on the players to sort this out.

They are professional athletes as well as footballers so need to work their arses off on Friday. When Bristol have the ball be compact, close the spaces and stay with runners. Be decisive when defending in the box and stop making basic mistakes. I expect that from my U16 team, not Boro.

Do those basic correctly and the natural ability on the final third will start happening again.

Slow build up play relies on having players of a high technical calibre.

Going long, overloading the wings requires strong fast players.

Our new more technical players have not yet settled in.. our strong and fast players are injured.

No more changes please. We need to get back to doing what was seeing us win games and outplay teams, even if the silly mistakes meant that the wins weren't coming as often as they should.
If the last two games have demonstrated anything, it's that making big personnel and formation changes has only resulted in us playing badly and consistently losing instead of playing well/ok and sometimes losing.
This Friday's team needs to be the players who are most used to playing together and know each other's game. Carrick's style of football totally relies on this and is why we have had bad runs before after enforced changes.

4-2-3-1

Travers, Dijksteel, RVdB, Edmundson/Fry, Borges, Hackney, Morris, Whittaker, Azaz, Burgzorg, Conway.

Go back to playing without fear with the ball, press hard as a unit and most importantly 100% concentration for the full 90mins!

Go there and defend, nick a goal somehow, then defend some more. Just like watford did. About time we forget abour the pretty stuff and got an ugly win.
