Got to give Mogga some credit

Mowbray has Blackburn well organised and still has that great eye for a player, Buckley, Gallagher and Lenihan. Plays to their strengths and nullifies the opposition. He wouldn't have got away with that here.....used to be criticised for concentrating too much on the opposition and would be crucified for our lack of possession (see also Colin) :ROFLMAO:

They looked decent. Very well organised.

You can see why they have done so well.
Mogga went with a 4 2 1 3 formation which cut off our 3 CHalves supply and crucially kept Jones on the periphery of the play

intelligent management given he had loads of key players missing. That’s why I thought wilder would’ve changed it at half time and matched them up

Jones (right). Watmore. Sporar(flo b) up top and tav in behind them. Crooks and howson in front of the back four of
Diksteel fry McNair Taylor

I think Wilder and hill were out thought last night as mogga managed to hide his weaknesses by using a formation to nullify us and left us with a fractured game (moggas plan) and us having no rhythm and when isolated chances came along we fluffed them

didn't handle the pressure with us well, got caught in halfway house, wanting to play passing football, but wanting to be pragmatic bcs his squad wasn't good enough. Never really worked out a solution that worked. HE deserved to go for us. Wrong man at the wrong time.

Not sure i agree, Mogga changed his setup to stiffle us, it worked and our players didn't work it out on the pitch. Half time, Wilder explained what we should be doing, we did it, but couldn't finish. Mogga beat us first half, Wilder beat Mogga second in tactics.

We could easily have scored 4 or 5 second half (Connelly 2: deflected wide and shot over, Crooks 2x headers, penalty), they had a half chance from a mistake, well taken, but that's it. Mowbray got lucky in the end

Agree with that to fall away once after Christmas was bad, only got away with it twice because of his legend status and the following season we were just going backwards.

It's easy to forget it's probably a mid table squad and definitely a mid table budget and wage structure.

The also lost a 25 goal scorer in Armstrong in the summer and didn't invest much back into the team. I think they have 5-6 going out of contract in the summer.

I'd say he's doing a superb job. We have far better players at our disposal (and definitely better paid and funds available)

They are definitely punching.

It's incredibly frustrating how little players work out or are allowed to change the team shape on the pitch these days.....God I'm getting old!

Allowed is often the bigger issue. You drill a formation and style and those that deviate will often disappear from a squad quite quickly. It is frustrating as a fan as it stifles that great creativity often. Playing the %'s aren't as exciting.

I'm surprised there wasn't a sending off. Was a great game to watch, despite or poor performance first half. Brilliant game. fast paced and loads of meaty challenges. Could have gone either way tonight. Our 2nd half performance was really good however, still hopeful we'll be firmly in the playoffs come end of season.

fair point Boro Mart ; we did do better 2nd half but circumstances were against us...the fan break worked against us as we were building momentum and then we stopped and restarted and lo and behold...blackburn shortly after scored....maybe it just wasn't our night...

exactly, you can't get annoyed and over react to every defeat, certainly not as a fan. The manager has his methods and wants to make sure players do not slacken their effort, and basic application which I think they did first half.

With the chances we had at the end we really should have got something out of the game - not that we deserved it, not at all.

They looked bang average overall, we played shoite, we lost 1-0 and it could have easily been a draw

I certainly dont fear them in the playoffs
