Government Emergency alert on your phone

Most if not all nations have it. If for some reason Russia attempted to invade or if there was a natural disaster abound you would receive notification and advice. Take the tin foil hat off footy let’s.
😂 I dont think I’ll be getting the first indication of a Russian invasion off my mobile phone… I imagine we’d be at war a long time before that happens..🤦🏼‍♂️
and most natural disasters occur without warning, it might be nice to know why the building fell on my head though…🤷🏼‍♂️

FFS get a bl00dy grip,
There is absolutely zero need for something like this in our country. Zero, zilch reason so why ?
Doesn’t anyone remember the brexit shenanigans ?
Lie after lie and this ultra right wing government (own up to yourselves that we have a very extreme right wing government) will stoop as low as it takes to keep power and feed their paymasters, banks, big corporate donors….

Because the Tories need distractions (for the not so bright red wallers and middle england who aren’t very morally bright) this mechanism is so not needed it could be hilarious but there’s a method in the madness of these right wing nut jobs
Wow

Brexit happened cos people who wanted to remain couldn’t be arsed to vote.

Happens in most countries that are prone to destructive weather you get an alert on your phone.

Won’t be long till we get our very own version of the Hawaii incident.

A government spokesperson said: " We apologise for the false nuclear war alter earlier today. A review of CCTV has revealed a person resembling a Mr ABdP Johnson sneaking into the emergency room in No 10 and pressing the alert button. It seems he had another key cut for the front door before he left as PM. Once again, our sincere apologies to the families of the 120 000 victims who died in the stampedes"

Its a basic idea.

Even Kazahkstan has it for strong winds, cold weather etc.

We’ve had flash floods in areas, we’ve lost 999 calls locally recently, tornados, record high temps. Nothing wrong with early warning

We've got one here in NZ and I must say that my mate was very relieved to receive one last year telling us there was a tsunami surge approaching the country. It allowed him to get his boat out of a marina and into safe water ahead of the surge coming. It destroyed the marina and several other boats (must have been the Tories not sending the alerts to those boat owners eh?) and the berth where he had been moored was smashed up (as would his launch if it had still been there).
I'll tell him next time to just ignore it as it's a right wing plot...

I certainly remember having weather alerts in Kazakhstan and Russia, usually for fog, high winds or snowstorms, there might have been air quality ones too but I can’t be sure.

Of course people will suggest it would be for a worst case scenario like a nuclear exchange, but it’s far more handy for informing regions affected by heavy rain, snow, gale force winds and heat waves, all of which are predicted to become more regular and severe. It could also be used for local disasters, such as a chemical works explosion, maybe even serious road disruption too - in theory it should be quite a benign system, but I have little faith in the government to be competent or honest!

The whole system was likely just an excuse to award a massive over priced contract to somebodies mate with the promise of a ridiculously over paid job when they lose their seat.

Obviously for New Zealand it makes complete sense given your prone to extreme events of the like the uk doesn’t experience like earthquakes and tsunamis etc
Our people are being manipulated by an extremely right wing government and the fact that we are distracted talking about this means they are getting what they want by us not discussing the demise of our health system, massively underfunded teachers, police, important public services ran down to virtually nothing

A few of you are talking about it. I’m not distracted in the slightest frankly and couldn’t give a fig about this. It certainly does not take my mind off discussing the health crisis the economy imploding or the state of our corrupt government.

Out of all the things to be angry about regarding government this isn't one of them.

I do like the idea on a local level system like this for important updates:

WARNING: Tesco is out of Brocoli

FOR INFORMATION: Spence is playing again tonight and no thread has been posted on fmttm

BEWARE: Wasp nest spotted in Linthorpe. Ideas on clearance welcomed.

Would certainly be useful.
