Graham Potter Appointed Chelsea Manager on 5 Year Contract

He'd be mad not to go. They'll double his wages overnight if not treble and he's only human with bills to pay and a Mrs who likes shoes.

If he fails, he will still get another job at a decent PL club on the pedigree he has already built and he'll still be on the radar of England - because everyone knows how mental Chelsea are - so unless he turns batshit mental, or they end up 12th, he'll be alright him.

How do you know his Mrs likes shoes? Or that he even has a Mrs?

I find this a bit disappointing. And I'm not convinced it's right for him or Chelsea. I suppose that last bit is a positive at least.

Can’t see the ego’s at that place taking to him if I’m honest
Neither can I.

You’d be mad not to take it like, a top 4 job for an up and coming English manager is pretty much an offer you can’t refuse.

If you’re ambitious to do those jobs, you’ve got to take it when your stock is high and the opportunity comes up. Say he stays at Brighton and leaves for say, Villa in a year, he might not have the same impact there so might never get another chance.

He seems like a really nice, emotionally intelligent guy who nurtures players and builds teams slowly and the right way - England Southgate with tactics, basically - and I can’t think of an environment that might be less suited to that than the ruthless goldfish bowl of Chelsea with a new owner who seems like he wants a lot of input. Arsenal seems a better fit, but who knows when that job comes up.

Good luck to him though. I still think he’s a little bit flavour of the month based on Brighton having a fantastic start this year but great to see him get a chance like this.
