I suspect it's a calculated decision on Hancock's part. His political career is all but over anyway, surely. (He probably reckons he can make more from I'm a Celeb, and its spin offs, than drawing his MP salary for two years until he's booted).

How on earth can Hancock get suspended and have the whip removed for leaving the country when Parliament is sitting, but Johnson was allowed to travel to the US to speak at a private function, which he got paid £115k for, then go on holiday to the Dominican Republic, as a private citizen, while Parliament was sitting, and nothing happen to him? Oh, and he was then invited back to take part in the leadership contest.
