Holloway purring about Wilder and the team

Yes the press. Interesting to see how the game stats have changed under Wilder. Today we had 63% possession. NW game plan we used to give up possession of the ball and contain so we had the ball far less than the opposition. Even against the likes of Peterborough at home and whilst we won that 2-0 with a penalty and a late goal we had less than 40% possession.

I quite like Murray, seems to know his stuff. But why was he acting so surprised to see McNair in defence? Trying to explain as it as a genius masterstroke by Wilder.

Yeah that was embarrassing ‘Paddy McNair, an attacking midfielder, playing the left side of defence.. absolute genius’ - he just sounded like a total pudding on that one I’m afraid. I love how Holloway loves the boro! Looking at the tripe we’ve had in recent years he could be forgiven for thinking he should have had been given a chance!

Where does McNair play for NI ? Murray is Northern Irish, and so could well be used to seeing him in midfield for the national team, and unaware that he also dabbles in defence...

Thank f**k he wasn’t though.

I think he's widely known in the game as a utility man. He might have played predominantly in midfield for northern Ireland but he's definitely played right back for them.

I'd be surprised if most northern Ireland fans weren't aware he can play centre back.

Well I'm glad NW had the hindsight to bring, IMHO, the player of the season in Crooks to the Boro, a very important member of the team
As Andy Gray once said about TLF, take him home, wrap him up for the night & tuck him in his bed, he's that important to us,

Its a strange one, at Man Utd he played mainly as a centre back, when he left he said it was because he wanted to play in midfield, At Sunderland he played in defense to start with then midfield. Northern Ireland play him in midfield mostly. With the odd game elsewhere if they have injury issues.

Should only be played in midfield in their is a real lack of options due to suspensions or injuries for me. He’s an ok midfielder but an outstanding centre back. Think he’s quality and huge for us.

Wondering if it's ever been done.... propbably has..... winners over 90 mins for 3 games in a row.
I've seen us concede in 90 plus loads of times and never seems to be the other way around.
Magical.

McNair was a number 10 all through the Man Utd youth teams.

think he got his chance in the first team when they had an injury crisis at centre back, and people just assumed that’s where he’d always played
