Hospitality Fights Back

Did you see the interview with raab from sky.... The guy totally took him apart he had no answer as to why you can't have big weddings any more after the G7 bbq pizz up

I see the government are picking strategies out of thin air again with the news this morning that vaccine passports for pubs and restaurants are been looked at again because youngsters aren't queueing up in their droves for the vaccine.

Senior members of government have already shown their dismay at any such actions been taken. No mention of 'papers' to get onto sporting events though. Even the requirements for a negative test from the likes of Wimbledon for example are full of holes as referenced on the following twitter thread.

The idea for vaccine papers for pubs has behavioural scientist's grubby fingermarks all over it.

A recent negative test was also touted as an option, as an alternative to being double vaccinated, either is a fair enough request without a medical reason otherwise, I think, especially if cases/ transmission is high.

It’s a good option to have, even if we don’t end up needing it. Obviously no point in it when cases are low etc.

Keep in mind that reckless actions (no checks, no controls, high cases) will likely deter customers more, than people acting like babies will do.

Did you read the thread?

I'm guessing no. The Dr had a PCR test (you know the gold standard tests) but Wimbledon would only accept the lateral flow tests (the unreliable ones that need a back up PCR test for proof of result).

The government have handled the
pandemic do badly it's untrue. Sixth formers could have done better, as long as they weren't damaged by Eton and Harrow

Nah, I was replying to the top paragraph of your post, not your linked thread, didn’t quote your thread.

Theres plenty of stories that a recent test pass would be a suitable alternative. But like I said, only needed when cases are high or growing quickly.

PCR is better, but delayed, depends when it’s taken. Doing a PCR a couple of days before and a lateral flow on the day is probably best.

But, in reply to the thread, (original answer still applies), Wimbledons also a pilot though, is it not? Hence why they’re sticking to one type of test, which is cheap, fast and easy. I’m sure the rules of entry were laid out beforehand? They know the accuracy of the test, may also be testing the public’s honesty/ self control.

Obviously if the public can’t be honest about tests, then you can’t trust them, so all that will mean is more mandatory measures.

PCR could end up getting phased out soon, or only available for select instances, so they may be better using what they will use in the future, for pilots.

It's difficult to defend the government's scatter gun approach to pandemic strategy. The road to freedom looks likely to result in further restrictions being imposed and rather than backtrack the government are looking for other strategies that can be used that aren't labelled as u-turns. Asking for test results or double jabs is just the government pointing fingers at people to distract from Johnson Absolutely squandering the vaccine rollout.

Hospitality is likely to take the brunt of any regulations to dig Johnson out of the hole he is creating.

Hospitality is struggling to fill the vacancies they have at the moment. Demand is outstripping supply across the country. A mix of people heading home in the aftermath of the backwards step of Brexit and others finding work outside of the hospitality sector during its closure.

What do you think?

The prices have already gone up, Randy will know about the wages.
I've heard of places offering new starters a £1000 bonus after their first 4 weeks of working plus £500 for any current staff member recommending chefs.

If I was a single man with no kids or connections to the area I'd be straight into agency work travelling the country and chasing the £££.

Simply put after a year of been told you can't go to work most folks have sacked the furlough off and found other jobs (amazon warehouse work I'm told is quite popular) where they aren't treated like ***** by employer's and customers alike, others have moved back to their home countries and others jobless.

Luckily I work for a group of owners who give a **** about their staff, they've looked after me these past 18 months going beyond their duty at times. I know lots of others, especially those who work for the big chains who aren't so lucky.

A good barman or woman is worth their weight in semi precious stones. They are marriage guidance counsellors, law enforcement officers, a friendly ear, a word to the wise, laugh at your jokes and let you know when it's time to go home.

Love em all
