How is that not a penalty and a red card?

"described as a severe facial injury" and being monitored.

It could easily be a broken eye socket amongst other things.

Defo a penna but I’d say yellow as there wasn’t intent he just misjudged it
So what if he misjudged it? He almost stamped Fry's eyeball into the back of his head when Fry was stood upright. It was an out and out assault, deliberate or not. If it was our player who'd done it and escaped without punishment, I guarantee you'd be saying he should have been sent off and we were lucky to get away with it.

I’ve said on a other reply it’s a sending off having looked a few more times

This is a good example of technology being good for everyone or nobody; in the league above they will spend 3 minutes going into tenths of a centimetre to measure offside from a sprinting man, yet in our league we have to accept the judgement of a referee who seems to think that skin magically lacerates as a nearby defender extends his go-go gadget leg.

“A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.”

straight red every day if the week for me, no questions asked. Idiotic.

i’d like to see Warnock reaction at have time to the ref!!

Clearly the 4th official is also incompetent. He should've told the ref it's a pen and a red card.

Referees should ensure that, like assistant referees, the Fourth Official ‘assists’ with their match control. The primary responsibility for controlling the match remains with the referee who makes the final decision at all times. In discharging this responsibility it is expected that referees will only seek assistance from the Fourth Official in respect of significant match changing incidents which have been missed by the other three match officials and which are clearly visible to the Fourth Official. Such incidents are:  red card offences  yellow card offences (as these could lead to a player been dismissed for a second yellow card)  penalty area offences (e.g. handball on the goal line to prevent or illegally score a goal)

Are the Sky commentators there? They said no Boro players appealed? You can see at least four led by Howson the instant it happens.

there was enough time when Fry was down injured for a message to get to the ref and at lest award a penalty. Nobody would have complained

I love this quote taken from the BBC.

Teessider's boss Neil Warnock, for just a moment at half-time, looked like he was about to approach the ref like an angry father awaiting his daughter's cheating boyfriend...

Obsoletely shocking!! Britt should have kept on at the ref and I’m surprised Warnock didn’t enter the pitch!! Completely unacceptable.
Britt does far too much smiling when it comes to these situations. Putting his hands together and smiling like hes trying to charm the ref into awarding a 50/50 decision instead of giving him an ear full.
