How long does the disappointment last?

I've felt even more disappointed today now that the reality has sunk in.

I can't believe we've managed to lose to them at the Riverside when you consider how strong we've been at the Riverside since Carrick took over. I had concerns that they could take it to penalties and we could lose on penalties but didn't expect them to beat us during the 90 minutes.

Last night was the first time we failed to score at home under Carrick. Just typical.

When walking out the ground I heard some dad say to his young lad ‘don’t worry son, we’ll be in Dubai in two weeks time’… at that moment I was incredibly jealous.

Got home and said to the wife we need to book a holiday between now and August, started looking tonight, she fancies Sweden… how to kick a man when he’s down.

The day following a defeat in an evening kick off is usually worst for me.

I've been wound up over how Coventry set out to give nothing away, knowing that we would gift them something at some point.

The writing was on the wall when Tommy Smith attempted that horrific backpass with less than 10 minutes on the clock.

I've had a whinge today, but the smarting will have faded by in the morning.

When I was 16 we lost in a cup qf . I cried and it took a year to get over.
Relegation in my 20s took until the start of the next season to get over.
Relegation in my 40s and losing a Cup final took a month but was intense.
Relegation in my 50s took about 2 weeks to get over.
Last night age 65 I was over it this morning.

All the pain was worth it for the good bits like promotion , The Carling Cup final. Travelling Europe and the UEFA Cup final. I'm still enjoying talking about them. The bad stuff is long gone.
UTB.

I'm over it, gutted but football carries on, an obvious recent comparison was Norwich in the PO final, the next season was even better. I'm 44 now, I've seen promotions and relegations, cup finals and disappointments, the real gut punches are usually during seasons that have been really entertaining, a lot of entertainment this season.

All clubs have cycles of success, it feels like we're building foundations and getting the right sort of players in. If we keep playing the same football next season it'll be great to watch.

We weren't ready for promotion if we couldn't beat Coventry in 2 games, might be a blessing in disguise as we look to strengthen, most promoted teams will be fodder, I think only Burnley have a hope of staying up next season.

I'm basically over our exit from the play-offs, but feeling quite jealous of the two clubs in the final and their fans. It must feel great to know you've done a good job and seen off one of your rivals instead of succumbing at the first hurdle.

Boro's failures always hurt, but accepting them is relatively easy, given their frequency. My attentions now turn fully to cricket and baseball, both of which I've already been enjoying for the last few weeks.

Boro wouldn't have been able to beat Luton so I'm pretty much over it now.

Rather lose last night than at Wembley again.

Still smarting today ... going for a hanger steak at 2pm and a couple of Singhas so should help .... comfort food... To compound the feeling my local team just got relegated from Thai Div 1 (top league) ... Kevin Blackwell was here at the start and got moved out with 10 or so games left ..... His pressers were a hoot
