One thing is for certain. If we don't get his targets, he will be vey peed off and can't see him hanging around beyond the end of the season, if things don't go to plan. Like everyone else, he wants automatic promotion, not just getting in the play-offs.

That is a concern that we seem to going down a well trodden route where the accountant and owner are over dominating the transfer dealings.

I can see a question coming on for Neil Warnock's evening ref the organisation and power base in transfers at MFC.
In fairness, its not clear whether:
1. Somebody at the Club is actually dithering, or incompetent and who that actually is (Scott/Bausor/Gibson???)
2.Whether there is friction over proposed targets and their valuation between Scott/Wilder/Gibson.
3.Whether we really are waiting for more senior clubs to finalise their squads before allowing chains to progress.
4.Whether some players are keeping their options open and we are not their first choice of move.

I choose to think it is a combination of 3 and 4, but time is squeezing and arses will twitch.

5. We can't afford to buy the players targeted by the manager.

If nothing happens by Friday Wilder is going to be made to look a right pillock after saying we were close to some incomings on Saturday, and he’ll no doubt be fuming too

Everybody is holding out for a better deal because there is plenty of time left until the window closes. There is no urgency to complete a deal. Selling clubs are waiting to see if anyone will give them a higher price, buying clubs are trying to get the lowest price they can and agents and players are waiting to see if anyone else comes in with a better offer. Nothing much will happen until the last few days when it will suddenly go crazy as everyone accepts that if they want to do a deal it'll have to be now or it isn't going to happen in time.

2 points down the drain already due to failing to secure a goal scorer. hopefully not 3 points down the drain on Saturday with more failing to secure anyone.

Paddy left centre back for me - Fry isn’t happy on that side
So where do you play fry now lenihan has effectively took his position ?
Given we have McNair to come back and bola it wouldn’t surprise me if we took 12m for fry also and cashed in
Controversial as it would be but I don’t see how it’ll work with the 3 central defenders

I went for zero. Not sure we'll do any business before the last few days of the window now.
September 1st 22:59pm

They must just be waiting on Hoppe's work permit?

I said it the other day, but I think it's strange there isn't any leaked info. With Steffen and Forss you knew they were in the building, it was just a case of getting to the point where we could announce it. There's absolutely nothing at the minute though, other than a plane landing at Teesside airport and a player liking a few things on twitter.

In his press conference last Friday Wilder said that he does not think he would have been brought to the club just to sit in mid table without challenging for promotion. I took this as a bit of a message that this is not what he signed up for, while acknowledging that the window was still open for another month. As others have alluded to, it will be interesting to see Wilder's mood if we keep dropping points cos we haven't brought in players, as happened on Saturday. We should have been out of sight by half time but couldn't put chances away. Again.

I don't understand the 'the window is open for another month, relax' view.

That's true, but we've got a LOT of games to play between now and then. We've already dropped 2 points due to not having someone in the team capable of putting the ball in the back of the net.

How many more dropped points will we suffer between now and the window closing if we don't bring in players.

The bench is frightfully thin, especially when you look at who WBA were bringing on.. and I believe there's 3-4 players to come into that starting 11.

We missed out by a whisker last year. Small margins. Dropped points are crucial.

Even if we bring someone in this week, they won’t be up to speed and won’t start on Saturday so that’s another game wasted.

True, but we do have McNair and Forss to come in (and Fry, and Smith) We've just got to hope that Forss is the one who can start putting them away.

There is a difference between being happy about something and understanding why something is happening.
