Certainly if the Spence saga is to be replicated. Levy is living up to his name. Difficult, awkward, stalling tactics. Frankly I would be happy if we walked away from it. Other clubs who showed interest would have been better/ easier to work with.

They have around 24 hours to tie up a deal if Conte wants him on the plane with the rest of the squad - this will prove to be the lever to buy or bust.
 
I think he wants to go to Spurs and all the other clubs know that so it increases strength of their position.

It is very tedious though and their chairmen knows we need the money to strengthen team as well which they appear to be trying to exploit.
 
It's been reported that what we've said from day one 15mil and 5 mil in add ons. That's always been our stance.

So offering 10mil and then 11mil (reported) is taking the p*ss and dragging it out. They want him and he wants to join. A so called big 6 side who's in the champions league. They want him? Pay up the asking price. It's not like it's 60mil.

I imagine it's been more the 'structure' of payments that's been the issue rather than the actual fee. How much up front and add ons etc.
 
It'll be both parties making sure they get the best deal for themselves, i'm not sure how you can specifically say it's Spurs. They aren't just going to give us anything we want. Plus don't forget the media make a bigger deal on a daily basis of these negotiations, but it's not like they're sat around a table bargaining all day long

To suggest that Spurs should just pay what we want is absolutely laughable. I assume the posters who advocate this are OK with the fees paid for Saville, Fletcher and Flint, after all you're effectively saying the buying club should just bend over and take the price quoted by the selling club.

Furthermore how do you know it's Spurs that are being "Difficult, awkward" and not Boro ?

I'm fairly sure it will get wrapped up soon. We cannot force Spence to go to a different club, but neither do we have to back down to Spurs. It will get sorted either by Spence realising he might have to come back to Boro and deciding he will go to another club, Spurs deciding Boro are not backing down or Boro taking slightly less.

It will all come down to who is must desperate as time goes on.

Levy is trying to get a £1.50 Cornish pasty for £1.20, he knows the £1.50 is better quality than the alternative £1 Poundland pasty.He knows the shop selling the £1.50 is only a local shop and hasn't got the resources of a large supermarket chain.
 
I think Spence has a good agent who keeps him in the newspapers. Bayern arsenal etc etc may well have kept tabs on him, but I'm sure they're keeping tabs on players all around the world. If it wasn't for spurs we'd probably have to settle for less from forest.
 
It's clear Spence only wants to go to spurs. So that's probably made it more difficult. It's not like he's going around 3-4 clubs and getting them competing against each other.

I imagine if he was going to his one true love (Forest) then it would have been done quickly😂.
