Ian Blackford to stand down as SNP leader at Westminster

A vastly successful barrister is an abysmal public speaker?
Abysmal is probably a bit strong but he's certainly poor. He's quite good on the cosy chat type of interview but weak under more probing questioning. He's still hesitant and nervous in set pieces. His phrasing is clumsy under pressure. He's no worse than the average person but he's the leader of the opposition. I'd prefer someone a bit more Ian Blackford e.g. Angela Rayner or Lisa Nandy.

You think a vastly successful barrister is weak at probing questioning?

You think his phrasing is clumsy and he’s no better than the average person?

This is complete fantasy. Total fiction.

He may be OK in front of a judge but he's no public speaker. Blackford is, Nandy is, Rayner is, Starmer isn't. He's wooden.

Yeah cos in court it’s just him and the judge. No one else around.

Speaking in court is public speaking. There’s no possible way he could be as successful as he was as a barrister without being an effective public speaker.

I really like Angela but to suggest she’s a better public speaker than Keir really stretches credibility.

He may be less nervous in court. He seems unable to relax in public. He may be an excellent backroom operator but he's deadly dull on stage. Angela is a much better public speaker. She can think on her feet. He can't. She has timing. He hasn't

Apart from the fact this isn't true, so you want a comedian as a pm? We tried that not so long ago. You are right that when asked awkward questions by reporters he wasn't, initially, very good. Now he is excellent, doesn't prevaricate and stands by his beliefs. The initial conversation was to do with pmqs and how Blackford kept the pm honest. This is nonsense. Starmer was the only reason Johnson was ousted by his backbench. Let me remind you.

There was no parties
I was told there were no parties
If there was parties I wasn't there and am assured all rules were followed
I think the British people want the government to get on with the big issues

That was directly down to starmers performance at pmqs, not Blackford.

You might find him wooden, I can assure every pm goes into pmqs cracking themselves. They don't think he is wooden, they think he is well prepared and a couple of steps ahead of them.
