If you could sign any player in the championship

Mowatt and Pearson would not improve us at all. Pearson is a yellow card machine similar to Morsy, Mowatt is having a half decent season after being let go by Leeds due to attitude issues and is only slightly more mobile than Wing.

Cental midfield is not the issue given we have sufficient players who can play there, we need a decent striker and for Warnock to play a slightly more attacking style that we can fit creative, ball carrying, mobile players into - Tavernier, Roberts, Coulson, Watmore are all capable.

442, 4231 or 343 with Howson and Saville the central 2.

343 would be interesting. Could work with the players we have.

You look at the top scorers and the likes of Joao / Armstrong / Pukki and Woodrow cost next to feck all.

It just proves don't have to spend 7-15 Mil to find a forward.

To he honest we must be due a decent forward soon? We've spent fecking millions on them and loans have been no better. We must be due a 'gem' who costs us 1-2mil and turns out a world beater. That or produce one from the academy (for some reason we don't have any).

Pearson (Luton)
Cornick (Luton)
Diédhiou (Bristol City)*
Armstrong (Blackburn Rovers)
João (Reading)
Mowatt (Barnsley)
Sarr (Huddersfield)
Pinnock (Brentford)
Pritchard (Huddersfield)
Cooper (Millwall)
Campbell (Stoke)

*By the way Bristol City striker Diédhiou might be sold in this January transfer because Bristol City don't want him to leave on free if he don't sign the new contract.

If, somehow we manage to get up, through a sneaky play off win. Then the young lads on this list are where I would spend our money. Look at bringing together a talented squad of some of the best young players at this level. It financially protects the influx of premier league money. Plus younger players that haven't played in the prem would be on lower wages than some aged stars. They would also be utterly fired up to prove themselves in the prem. This is the business model we should be looking at., hoover up the best young players, grow them, and if necessary sell to finance the next 3 or 4 young players coming in.

Armstrong, Sarr, Campbell, Buendia, Toney, Brooks, Cabango (Swansea), Collins (stoke), Harvey Elliot (Blackburn), CAllum Styles (Barnsley), Ben Brereton, Ovie Ojaria (Reading), Marcu Forss (Brentford), Michael Olisie (Reading), Harry Wilson, Jason Knight (Derby), Koroma (Huddersfield).

You could buy 6 of those for the price of two established proven prem players who won't be committed.

Jason Knight at Derby is a good shout. Could see him going to a lower prem team soon

I like the principle, but Arsenal have been quoted £50m in their pursuit of Buendia for example.
Watkins went to Villa for £28m last summer.
The good young Championship players cost a lot of money and there would be competition for them.
Toney would cost more than Watkins did last summer. Brooks would have takers too.
As I say I like the principle and it may be very good, but we would have to spend miles more than Gibson approved on promotion in 2016 where we were just about the lowest spenders that season.

Buendia, yes, it is probably too late for him as he has proven he can do it in the prem. I doubt he would go for 50 though, probably around the 30mark. Brooks injuries would reduce his value, Toney would probably be 25mill, but the rest would be moderately affordably by todays standards, probably the 5-15mill price. Some of those clubs will be desperate to cash in by the end of this season.

Would love to watch Joao Pedro week in week out. Genuinely surprised we've got a player of his potential playing in the Championship this season.
Oh yes, forgot about him, he looks a future star and still a teenager. Doubt Watford will sell without letting his value mature for another year first.
