If you thought Wilder was spikey on the Boro site….

sounds defeated , clearly some issues between recruitment and him
I just think he's annoyed that they've all worked so hard in pre-season and then the players didn't bother turning up in the first half. I hope he went through them at half time. I don't see issues between him and recruitment, he's said all along he understands it and its the same for most clubs. It's not like we haven't signed anyone.

I agree he will have a certain level of understanding of the difficulties in the market, however I think you've got to look at the players that have left (more so the numbers) to see where his frustrations are coming from.

Yes we've signed players, and it's a good job we have as we literally wouldn't be able to cobble together an 11 if we hadn't.. but we're still milessssssss off where we need to be squad wise. It's very worrying to think that 1 suspension or injury and we'd be looking at playing the likes of Hayden Hackney.

He'd have expected what we've already brought in, and then some, with what's gone out the other way.

Unless he was assured by the recruitment team 3-4 strikers would DEFINITELY be brought in. So he told Akpom he wasn't needed. Whoops.
A more likely explanation - he’s been let down badly by those who are supposed to be getting deals done

Apologies for bringing the Warnock name up again, but this has echoes of his summer window. He started off full of optimism and as the window progressed became more and more downbeat and almost resigned to a difficult season when the window shut. Let's hope history is not repeating itself or Wilder will be rethinking his future.

If we are failing to bring players in then it is down to our negotiating team. Are we too tight? Has Bausor tried to steal some ideas after negotiating with Levy? If we are identifying players, finding out their price and then not signing them because we want a cheaper deal that is never going to happen then we're either going after the wrong players or we aren't being realistic about what we need to pay for players. It should be fairly simple. Are we in the right ballpark and quibbling over the structure of the deal or are we nowhere near and we need to move on or increase our bids?

This isn't the first time this has happened. We've heard so any stories of deals that were nearly done but didn't quite get over the line. It can't be a coincidence if it happens so regularly. If the same people that are responsible for running the shambles that is the club shop or the ticket office are doing our negotiating then it's no wonder we never get anywhere. If it continues then Wilder won't hang around. Why would he when we break promises of backing him by leaving him in a worse position than we were in last season?

Don’t even know where to start with this.

Why do we think its Bausor that's the issue? From various ex players and managers, its Gibson they say who has biggest say on deals, incomings and out goings. The other side is are being ambitious with players we want, if so they would be harder deals to get done, and carry more risk of failing. I think the issue with Warnock was a difference in direction, he wanted one style of player and the club were interested another.

If we take the Norwegian lad, the issue is the club not selling nothing we can do about that, unless we start offering well above what we think is value and affordable. Similar with some loan deals mentioned, if the parent club wont let them go until replacements found, we are hamstrung again. the only option then is move on, start again and in all likelihood take players of lesser quality.

Ha ha, me neither.

It only takes a casual look to see that the market has been as slow as ever this summer, across both the EPL and the championship.

Clubs are still reeling in the losses from covid and we're not alone on finding it difficult to get deals over the line.

I'm comfortable with the club only paying what they believe deals are worth - I'd far rather that was the strategy, than the opposite, when we threw good money after bad in the Monk era. For example, it seems Groningen reneged on the agreement for Strand Larsen. The player had been here, agreed personal terms and wanted to come, but as soon as we show we're a club that can be held hostage in terms of fees then we always pay over the odds. The club are right to walk away, for now.

The most important thing is that the club is stable and sustainable and I'm pretty sure it is.

Stable, maybe, but sustainable - when losing perhaps between £10 million and £20 million last season? I don't think so.
Like I said, Covid hit clubs pockets hard, but even taking that into account I'm pretty sure the club is now working within a sustainable model more than ever before.
