I'm currently with Bulb, my bills are currently creeping up. So am looking to change. Plus I'm nearly £600 in credit. Any thoughts people

We used them for 2 years when they first came on the scene, superb customer service and decent price. Left after they hiked the price up by nearly 150%. That was with a smart meter installed halfway through our time with them and household use been exactly the same throughout, i.e gas and electric hardly used except weekends.

All energy suppliers prices are increasing hugely at the moment, its an industry wide thing. Most commentators suggest prices are effectively doubling. I'm sure there's a deal to be had somewhere if you shop about though.

I’m with Look After My Bills and they can’t find a better deal than I am currently on so not so sure as to the likelihood of decent deals being around

I'm with Octopus at the moment and have recently bough a hybrid EV. They offer an excellent package where its 5p per kw hour between 12:00 midnight and 05:00 or something like that for charging your vehicle.

Just asked for a refund, didn't realise it was nearly 700 quid credit. I'll await till I get it in my bank then start looking around.

My brother in law is the tightest person I know and he's with Octopus. That's the main thing you need to know (y)
On that basis, he persuaded me to go with them.
So far so good. I'm 4 months in and it's been a very straightforward experience. Website is a doddle to use - I don't have a smart meter so submit my readings when they send me an email reminder. The next day you then get an updated bill. All very straightforward.
They also do a referral scheme so if you sign up then they credit your account and the referrer's account with £50 each. Not to be sniffed at!
Here's my link should you wish to take it up. Thanks.

£700 in credit?? None of the main suppliers would allow that to happen as they constantly review DD payments. On the one rare occasion I built up some credit they automatically refunded it.

We were with them but got stung for a £1k bill because the meter hadnt been working properly and we were underpaying for 2 years, so set up a direct debit to clear the balance and moved companies.

I am with them, generally OK but you have to be careful you dont end up with a big credit as their algorithm for calculating monthly payment strongly favours them. They owed me 450 once but gave it back when I asked. It is now back up to about 200

If you're paying by Direct Debit a large portion of that credit is to cover anticipated winter usage.

You build a credit in the summer when usage is less to cover the higher demand in the winter so it balances out.

If you request a refund now and don't find another supplier then you will face a huge hike in your direct debit. This happens all the time.

We're with Octopus and also in credit by the same amount.

Just the two of us in a 3 bed semi and we pay less than £120 a month.

We've never won the money spin 🤣

We've also given the smart meter a miss.

Note that most suppliers are taking advantage now by adding the precondition of switching to them is to accept a smart meter.
