IS COVID OVER

A lot of people seem to think so .
Yesterdays news pictures of huge crowds , no distancing and thousands without face coverings .
Are we out of it or are the rules/guidance just bonkers and unenforceable ?

Yeh I didn`t realise that the FA Cup Final was a pilot scheme for removing all social distancing rules and the wearing of no masks

Not saying all had masks removed but there seemed to be a lot

Like Harry says, we`ll see what occurs......hopefully nothing

The govt and the mixed messages have given that impression but NO it’s not over.

Very far from over.

I suspect we will see further restrictions over the next few weeks or no further easing of restrictions at the very least.

Very, very unwelcome but probably necessary.

MORE than 20,000 passengers who may have been infected with a powerful new Covid strain arrived from India as Boris Johnson delayed imposing a travel ban.

even the murdoch press are alluding to this as you say after brexit can we afford to pss off the Indians.

They seem to be just behind the curve every time they take action on Covid.

I think it is because Boris inherently doesn’t want to restrict things but becomes increasingly forced into doing so by circumstances.

it’s also a worry that people coming in from India have reported a lack of organisation and preventative measures at airports.

The demoralising thing is the lack of action again by the government, to prevent this new variant coming in, is it apathy, misunderstanding or something more sinister like putting trade deals and economy before lives??
I am going to keep repeating this as I have for the last year Holgate. Johnson wants his emergency covid bill renewed and that is his only agenda with covid. He wants to climb over dead bodies to a pot of gold.

The narrative will change bit by bit from road to freedom back to restrictions so he can keep syphoning our money.

There is no evidence, as yet, that the Indian variant is vaccine resistant. He will peddle the story that we are better safe than sorry. He will engender fear so we are looking in the wrong direction when he extends the covid bill.

The man is a sociopath.

BBC: Lockdown easing: Virus experts tell us what they will (and won't) be doing

Interesting read and reflects my thoughts on it. My 2nd Vaccination is on 31st May after that I will feel more comfortable doing stuff like maybe cinema or inside a pub. I believe that those attending the Cup Final yesterday had to have a negative test beforehand and will be tested again in the next few days?

The media needs to switch from emphasising infection rates to hospitalisation rates and mortality. Let's hope to whatever deity you can name (Save us oh Flying Spaghetti Monster) that Track and Trace works this time.

BMA seems to disagree as well.

On Saturday, the British Medical Association (BMA) said it had serious concerns about the decision to continue with the easing of lockdown restrictions.

The new variant of concern has been discovered in Australia.

Make of that what you will. Even Australian citizens are finding it difficult to return home to Australia.

A figure I'd like to have seen was how many cup final ticket holders failed their Covid test and couldn't attend. They must have that info readily available.

On the subject our "World Beating Track and Trace" organisation, I have, this very morning received a message from T+T...

Dear Sarah Heald, your lateral flow test was negative...

If anyone knows Sarah, could you pass on the good news.
