There's so much emphasis on the 0 loss column in boxing that boxers do worry about taking dangerous fights. We, as boxing fans can take a lot of the responsibility for thay though. This board is a prime example.
Look at the way people have written off AJ. He's lost 3 times in his career. Once to Ruiz and he quickly put it right, and twice to Usyk, one of the best pound to pound fighters ever in my opinion. There's no shame in that. AJ is still clearly a top 5 heavyweight in the world yet people absolutely ridicule him. So far there's only Usyk who's proved that he's clearly in front of him.
Look at some of the previous threads on this board where people slate AJ. "AJ doesn't deserve a fight against Fury" is a phrase you see a lot. Why? Because he lost twice against Usyk, the man who Fury is ducking. It's absolute nonsense. It's no wonder fighters avoid the big fights.
We should be crediting the fighters for making the big fights happen not ridiculing them if they lose. AJ showed his level against Usyk, he's never gonna be considered an all time great, but he's been a decent world champ and he gave it a good go against Usyk (particularly in the rematfh). I hope AJ wins well against Franklin and comes back to his best because he has proven he will make big fights. He's still got options at the top level.
