Is Tyson Fury the biggest fraud in boxing?

Always been a fan of Tyson Fury but he is being crass in this malarkey v Usyk.
70/30 of a mega purse is some deal for TF but to refuse 50/50 for a rematch is idiotic.
There's no guarantee he'll win the first fight so how can he dictate terms for the second?
Those 2 purse splits will amount to tens of millions for Fury and the chance to be un disputed champ.
Clearly, he does not fancy this fight. Real shame as it would have been the two styles come together.

In the video with Usyk's promoter, he says Warren wanted 50/50 in the rematch if Usyk won and remain 70/30 if Fury won.

Usyk's team wanted 70/30 to the winner which seems fair.
Apparently Usyk had accepted 50/50 in the rematch clause with AJ, but at the time of making that deal Usyk didn't have a belt. He now has 3. Obviously his bargaining position has improved.

Interesting that that Krassyuk said Usyk earned 3 times more for the AJ rematch than he was going to get for this fight! Fury fully believes in his head that he is the biggest draw in the heavyweight division, but clearly the Saudis were willing to pay more money for the AJ v Usyk fight than they were for the Fury fight.

There's still massive fights out there for Usyk and I would think his value has definitely risen throughout this negotiation whilst Fury's has decreased rapidly.

Usyk earned double any purse Fury had ever received in the AJ rematch all the rubbish about him not deserving a fairer split against Fury in a rematch is just b0ll0cks. Fury has ducked this fight.

Embarrassing

Not sure if that link is working, but it's basically Fury's recent story

Really, really embarassing. Displaying his utter lack of class there.
Not only taht it’s the opposite of the truth - Tyson got his 70-30, then he wanted the lions share in the rematch if he lost. The last two proposed fights he’s had his bluff called and then moved the goal posts. He’s either baldy advised or knows exactly what he’s doing!

I respect your posts and think you have been fairly impartial and respectful in this thread even though we have occasionally disagreed, so don't want to come across facetious with the following.

It is a genuine question, have you changed your opinion about Fury being good for boxing over the last few weeks?

'Is Tyson Fury the biggest fraud in boxing?'

No.

FootyExpo does it again.
Nice to see this poster has quickly gone back in his box. Remember when AJ was all things great and then they jumped ship to Fury.

Just to note, they are right up there with the major dellusionists on this board - the Lizards poster and the Erimus one. Attempting to square either of their circles doesn't come recommended.

He has certainly gone down in my estimations - from the outside looking in I think he is to blame for this. I actually think Tyson would fight usyk he just wants to go into it with the edge in every department including the contract terms.

I didn’t really notice we had disagreed and it’s not fascetious :)

Seen this before but seems in recirculating on Twitter. Not a good look.

I don't agree with the points he's making here and in fact he's said a lot of unsavoury stuff that just gets brushed under the carpet over the years.

But I think his reluctance to fight and/or his wanting a disproportionate purse split has more to do with him being concerned about fighting a relatively fast southpaw, and him and his brother Shane have said as much. (not saying that you were arguing against this in your original post)

So frustrating that the best fighters don't fight each other regularly.
Imagine a similar thing playing out in the premier league

There's so much emphasis on the 0 loss column in boxing that boxers do worry about taking dangerous fights. We, as boxing fans can take a lot of the responsibility for thay though. This board is a prime example.

Look at the way people have written off AJ. He's lost 3 times in his career. Once to Ruiz and he quickly put it right, and twice to Usyk, one of the best pound to pound fighters ever in my opinion. There's no shame in that. AJ is still clearly a top 5 heavyweight in the world yet people absolutely ridicule him. So far there's only Usyk who's proved that he's clearly in front of him.

Look at some of the previous threads on this board where people slate AJ. "AJ doesn't deserve a fight against Fury" is a phrase you see a lot. Why? Because he lost twice against Usyk, the man who Fury is ducking. It's absolute nonsense. It's no wonder fighters avoid the big fights.

We should be crediting the fighters for making the big fights happen not ridiculing them if they lose. AJ showed his level against Usyk, he's never gonna be considered an all time great, but he's been a decent world champ and he gave it a good go against Usyk (particularly in the rematfh). I hope AJ wins well against Franklin and comes back to his best because he has proven he will make big fights. He's still got options at the top level.

Yeah I see your point, I've definitely been guilty of that myself in the past.

I also wonder if the infrequency of the fights adds to more ridicule. Like if X fighter only fights a true contender every 1-2 years then the result against that fighter gets magnified
