I'm not writing him off because I do think he'll be back in the first team eventually and will benefit from the time away from the first team. However I don't see how he gets back in the team this season unless we see an injury to forss.. even if forss was injured there's other options in that position that would potentially be used in front of him.

We won't see him at right back

We won’t see him at all - Thank God Carrick has quickly sussed him out. Very unlikely to make the bench and lower league Scottish football awaits. Some people continue to have very inflated views of a player who has been really poor for over 6 months. Time will tell
He's also a player who's only had a season and a half proper senior football but has shown a lot of promise. I don't know what level he'll ultimately make the grade at, but your prediction is somewhat unrealistically pessimistic

You would have had Ripley out as well. He went through a poor spell then came back to form and was brilliant.

Loaning Downing out to Sunderland proved a turning point for the lad.
I'd be thinking the same way about Jones. Carrick must fancy his chances of rehabilitating Jones, who looks completely lost atm.

Jones couldn't get on the pitch to replace Forss on saturday, Carrick preferring to put Watmore on, even tho the club were in the process of selling Watmore to Millwall, that says it all for me.

Jones had a purple patch last season, but has been inconsistent, poor this season. (there's something not clicking with him)

Carrick has managed to instill belief and confidence in the team, and improved all the players, with the exception of Jones.

With the two new lads to come into the squad, I will be very surprised if he makes the bench in a few weeks time.
Not sure he will be playing a major part, and to be honest we haven't missed him, Forss is getting better and better in his new role, which has totally surprised me.

If Jones improves and gets back in the team then great, but I cannot see it happening anytime soon.

Akpom did nothing worthy of note for far longer.

Shall we ship him off to Cowdenbeath as well?

Some weird knee jerkers on here. He’s been very very good and now he can’t get a start because Forss is very very good. Standard winger development requires him to find new ways to beat players now they double up on him and it’s not easy but no need to panic.

Aren’t you happy at reaching the Caribou Cup final?
