Isaiah Jones

Was genuinely quite an emotional night seeing Jones playing so well and the crowd responding to him as soon as he came on.

I thought his time was up here just a month or so ago, I’m sure I said something along the lines of we won’t see him in a Boro shirt again. How silly of me.

Just another reminder that you don’t know what’s going on with a player in their own personal life.

For the record, I thought Jones had a great second half tonight and the wide open game played to his strengths with acres of space to exploit. It’s the hyperbole that gets me on here - he wasn’t ‘man of the match’ but had a great 45 mins after 9 months when he was poor consistently passing the ball back 5 yards and not taking people on - his main asset. He also at that time couldn’t cross for toffee. I am delighted when any Boro player makes me eat my words and would love to see Jones play like he did last night for the next five years for us but please stop making him the new Messi again after 45 mins of a very open game.
It does seem however St Mirren may have to wait a while to get their man 😂😂

He changed the game. Alongside Hackney he was the best player on the pitch. You have always been ridiculously harsh about him.

I agree with you about the hyperbole on here about him, and he's by no means the finished article, but it has to be said it wasn't "a very open game" when he came on - he made it so

He absolutely was man of the match.

On a day where our finishing was better, he'd have had about 5 assists.
He was a constant menace.

Hyperbole from the sky pundits too then? Because they gave him man of the match.

He set up 2 and created 2 more clear cut chances. I'm not sure what more he could've actually done in 45 mins bar get on the end of his own crosses and bury them himself.

But yeah just a decent half really and nowhere near MoM 🙄

Top draw tonight, just like watching last season. Injury and form may mean he plays most games now. He has something no one else in our squad has.

Better than last season IMHO.

He got a lot of success by drilling low crosses last season. They can be very dangerous balls, but they are a bit of a lottery really, he just happened to get quite a few winners.

Last night, his vision and variety of crosses were better, not to mention his execution, which has been lacking for much of the season.

Talk about good timing, what an option this gives us going into the play offs. Could be the hero, fresh and that pace in the play off semi's could be massive.

He was definitely man of the match. He changed the game completely and he should have had about 5 assists had we been more even more clinical.

he was great when he came on. funny comments from the sky commentator about him having "off field" issues.

A fair assessment, he has been very poor for a while but who knows what has been going on behind closed doors. If he can maintain what he did last night then he will be a massive threat for the push.

In fairness, I'd probably have given Hackney MOTM, but Jones ** and Dijksteel * for the change they brought about in the second.

Sky's pundit saw it differently, and I wouldn't say Jones didn't earn it.

Delighted. We know how good he can be, and with injuries mounting in the squad, having Jones anywhere near back to his best will be a huge asset to the team.
