EU firms refuse UK deliveries over Brexit tax changes
Some EU specialist firms stop delivering to the UK because of tax changes that took effect on 1 January.

I saw the original tweet sent by that company a day or two ago. A lot of people who order items from abroad via Ebay and suchlike are complaining about the inability to buy or a large increase in the amount of charges. It was inevitable and will have a detrimental effect on trade, particularly on smaller value items that the ordinary consumer would order.

I need a component for my mountain bike. Only available from the German manufacturer but they've stopped selling to the UK because of this VAT issue.

The counter argument is “well you can now start buying British and support the home economy”. This in fact was one of the platforms that those who voted Leave supported. Well the reality strts to hit home. There is a threat that choice will be limited certainly in the short term.
