ITV confirmation Number Ten partied whilst the rest of us locked down.

Why do you think a "mild" variant would trigger any measures?

Your reaction is rather panicky. As I said on another thread, Omicron might well be our way out. Early medical analysis from South Africa shows it to be very infectious but giving mild symptoms and then offering good immunity to other variants. It almost appears to be a natural vaccine. This has happened with previous virus outbreaks. But it is too early to say, so I think caution is merited. So instead of urging people to drop what are quite minor inconveniences (mask wearing on public transport, vaccination, etc.) perhaps we just need to show a bit of backbone and let the boffins do the boffining.
Correct me if I'm wrong but, travel restrictions were put in place, as we're pcr tests. Also the mask mandate again.
Were these not in response to Omicron, even though the person who discovered it said it only gave mild symptom

All I’m saying is it’s hypocritical to get so offended by this if you were in the half of the country who was doing the same thing ignoring the rules and there are many of these people about ( I wasn’t disregarding the rules))
Let's say there's a thread about a murder. Everyone is condemning it and saying how awful it is. Would you comment to say how hypocritical it would be of any murderers to be showing any faux outrage.

Half the country weren't having Christmas parties. The evidence is all there in the drop in infections.

Johnson needs to go. Ironic that he's such a fan of Churchill, yet in this crisis he's been Chamberlain.

Guys I apologise I’ve obviously been very clumsy with my language using “the term faux outrage and I will take that comment back.

im also not saying two wrongs make a right.
The gvt from what I know and videos have seen have acted unconscionably with these parties and their ridicule- I stated taht at the outset.

I’m frustrated with covid - maybe it’s not half the people but there are a lot of people not abiding by the rules across the country and that winds me up.

TBH FatCat time and time again the figures have shown that a massive % of the public stick to the rules - over 90%. It might change this time but even the Government were surprised with take up.

We all know a couple of idiots who didn't stick to them but everything points to the majority towing the line.

Imagine how you'd feel if you hadn't voted to put the non-rule abiding twáts into office. You'd be apoplectic.

I dunno about statistics but I can tell you what I see. I get the train to work both pre and post the reintroduction of masks I would say about 60 per cent at best wear a mask. I honestly don’t buy into your 90 per cent. Shopping centres are even worse. I can only say what I see.

Laughing you were my example - you were happily stating you would break the rules and see your family and then a few days later came on here saying how your daughter had caught covid!!!!! Am I mistaken?
You are mistaken. What I actually said was we spoke to my FIL about what he wanted to do over last christmas. We decided as a family not to go ahead with a christmas celebration. I have already said we cancelled christmas last year, in line with the restrictions.

No. Hes been Churchill. That nodding animated dog.

We all have anecdotal evidence and masks have only just become a legal requirement. I was referring to uptake the last time but I appreciate what you are saying about the recent measures.

We cancelled our works get-together as did my partners work place.
The overwhelming majority seemed to do the same, let's not deflect with we were all at it.
Also I think its fair to expect complete compliance from those setting the rules.
It leaves future regulations should they be needed in tatters

As the leader of the bereaved families said why does the PM need an internal investigation into something that happened in his OWN house. It’s not like this happened in some distant FCO post it happened in one of the most secure building arguably in Western Europe.

As some one who has just returned from the us it’s startling how different they are approaching this virus than we are. The mask mandate for instance is absolute esp in airports with verbal reminders of what the penalties for non compliance are.

same with public transport and restaurants and even some shops.

then when back in the UK absolutely nada until Tuesday week.

Find it amazing someone would suggest loads of work places did it. Companies wouldn’t want the repetitional damage

We were absolutely astounded when we returned from New York in July.
