ITV confirmation Number Ten partied whilst the rest of us locked down.

Did everyone on here not bend the rules on Covid restrictions (at Christmas). I am not saying it was right but I think if this is the worse thing this govement had done I could understand the rag. The £350 a hour annoys me more for doing surveys their mates making millions out of PPE contracts that really ***ed me off. I am not a con and I am not labour I hate and distrust the lot of them

You can think they're all the same, but only one side has been in charge during COVID and only one side was laughing at people for following rules they implemented but didn't respect.

As for bending the rules: I didn't see my parents for over a year bar the day of my grandfather's funeral last year. We spent Christmas apart and my widowed grandmother spent hers alone.

Got the train to York on Saturday morning. Loads of people not wearing masks, eating, drinking, singing. Return journey around 5.30 even worse. next carriage to us was a full blown party going on, couldnt see a single person in the carriage wearing a mask, woman stood in the middle of the aisle jumping about singing at the top of her voice conducting the singing. Train staff didnt even venture out of their cabs to check tickets never mind try and enforce the rules.

Apparently as long as you are holding a gin in a tin you dont need to wear a mask!

In answer to your question, no. We stuck by the rules at Christmas, as I'm sure the majority of the country did. We went to visit the elderly in-laws, left presents on their doorstep and exchanged pleasantries from the end of the drive, in the cold. Did the same with children and grandchildren.

Well that's not surprising given there was a huge anti vax demo in York last Saturday. I'd have avoided the City like the plague (pardon the pun) and gone to the match instead if I were you.

Thats awful BoroMart, it's not the entire picture though. I will say I, respectfully disagree, from my own experriences.
...and that's my point saying we are stealing the childhood from children isn't the entire picture, in fact it's far from it, it's about 2% of their entire childhood and stops them having to bury a parent or grandparent and go through life with the guilt of wondering if they passed that virus on.

There is no 'may' about it. Ultimately lockdowns will be attributed to just as many deaths as the virus has when we look back in years to come.
that's a guess, nothing more, there is zero evidence to support that....and it also doesn't take into account secondary issue like the huge number of people that would end up with long covid, the possibility of extreme mutations, the overwhelming of hospitals if we never locked down (have you forgotten Italy?), and the mental health challenges of so many people grieving.

I am total sorry for you loss and I won’t lie I did spend Christmas with my brother and his family. I also spent new year eve with over 250 people on a oil rig.

And your pro lockdown has killed and will kill just as many people as covid will. Nice try on the anti lockdown guilt trip though I'll give you that. 👍🏻

Ridiculous, you have absolutely no idea what would have happened without lockdowns as it never happened, but if pretending everything would have been better makes you feel better, so be it.

Oh, I would probably be dead but hay ho.

He did last week Randy. But he was ridiculed and criticised by the 'Anyone but Starmer' brigade on here for 'wasting' 2 of the 6 questions he's allowed on a meaningless Christmas party from a year ago.

Strangely enough those critics are absent from this thread.
what has happened in the last two months with the usual Tory stooge around here, they seem strangely absent even big Tory fanboys like FatCat have gone quiet.

OK, lets look at that holisticaly. Would we not have been better shutting down every where else earlier, harder and for less time? You know like they did in europe? This is Randy's point. Keep listening to these fuckwits who make the wrong decisions at the wrong times, if you want, it's not really for me. I have worn a mask for months, because I am not stupid. I have avoided the pub for months, because I am not stupid. I will continue to do the right things for me and my family, as I hope we would all do.

Yes they will eventually get a decision right, even if it's for the wrong reasons. The right and wrong stop mattering, when whatever you and I do, the goverrnment will dictate legislation, which has been proven to be, ultimately wrong, either at the wrong time, or ineffective. That is undeniable.

I feel for your son, but that is not indicitive of what is happening across the country with children, more generally. The harm that is being done is going to impact our children for their entire lives.

You're argument Chris, seems to be, its right to lock down, have limitations on our freedoms, because of where we are at any particular time. The truth is we didn't have to be, ever, where we were. We ended up at any point in time because of **** goverrnance that was aimed at enriching the governments tory pals.

No, the point was anti lockdown, not if the government messed up doing it which they did spectacularly. That was not my argument.

I've said enough about the governments failings in locking down too late and leaving too early to go over them again in this thread.

Nope, I'm not going to accept you alluding to Labour being as bad as this lot, it's pretty obvious this is one of the most corrupt and vile governments we have ever had....and no, not everyone broke the rules (not bent) and that isn't our fault for not doing so before you take that line

Zero evidence? Take the covid blinkers off. Cancer referrals are way down, cancer hasn't disappeared. GP's have been given permission to take focus off of the over 75's to focus on booster jab roll out. That will have an effect. The staggeringly high rate of non covid related deaths occuring at home. Domestic violence increased dramatically during lockdowns. The mental health of people grieving? Very sad yes. What about the mental health of people who were cut off from the world? What about the mental health of kids who weren't allowed to socialize friends and family? Kids who have been battered and abused at home and not picked up by social services as schools were shut, teachers having a keen eye on spotting any potential abuse that is happening at home. Have I forgotten Italy? No. I've also not forgotten the 'videos' of people randomly dropping dead in the street in China either (they are on the world wide Web if you haven't seen them yet).

And neither do you. 👍🏻
Is Sweden still on the map? Or is it a desolate wasteland overran by minks?
