From what Kieron Scott was saying in his latest interview I would say we are going to bring in two players.. possibly both on loan. A Defender and a Defensive Midfielder

Zidane Iqbal on loan from Man Utd has been touted and at 19yo he certainly would be one for the future. Scores of league one players seem to be available at the minute Max Bird at Derby does remind me of a young Michael Carrick and at 22yo still fits us building for the future.

If we are to sign a young Michael Carrick then it would stand to reason that in looking for another defender we would be after the new Jonathan Woodgate..

Get in there early and get it done!

A worry for me is we seemed to go downhill when managers get their own players in.Pulis seemed to do better with the players he inherited from Monk, then when he brought his own players in we faded.Warnock did similar with the players he got from Woodgate, after the January window we weren't the same team.Wilder seemed to improve Warnocks team then after the window we seemed to go downhill again.

Pulis sold off the best ones, Warnock was left with holes in the squad when we had to rebuild! Wilder’s honeymoon period finished when he started slagging players off and wanting them out of the door. Keiron Scott at least mentioned wanting to get away from having to rip up and start again each transfer window. We have a fair few out of contract in the summer that will need to be addressed. Just depends how quickly we can identify players and get them bedded in for next season.

Vincent Aboubakar scored , is he the one you mentioned years ago ?

Pellistri played for Uruguay at the WC? Think they'd be holding out for a higher level loan club than us?
Sorry didn’t see this
Zach Steffen has been rumoured on a permanent deal also.. that would free up another space for a loan signing. Two loan signings maybe?

Squad numbers that are currently available are: 7,10.11,12 & 22

Kai Wagner 25yo German left back playing in MLS for Philadelphia Union is out of contract in December.. we've been linked with him.

Darnell Fisher has been linked with a move to Derby County - Jason Knight for them is out of contract in summer 22yo Irish midfielder
might be worth enquiring for Max Bird.. defensive midfielder looked pretty decent in the championship.

I'm really feeling League One this January window. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru 21yo midfielder is at Sheffield Wednesday.. ex Man City and he looks way too good for League One.. available to sign on a pre contract in January. It's a name i've pulled out of the bag, but he feels like a Keiron Scott signing to me.

Ronnie Edwards,19yo defender currently at Peterborough.. Jonathan Woodgate will no doubt be aware of this guy. 5'11 tho.. for a central defender? YERJOKINARNYA!!

Zak Williams 18yo welsh defender from Crewe Alexander looks smart.. left back/left of a back three at 6ft he reminds me of George Friend tbh

Shola Shoretire - 18yo winger currently at Man Utd.. he's from Newcastle
Joe Hugill - 19yo striker currently at Man Utd.. he's from Durham
Facundo Pellistri - 20yo winger currently at Man Utd, he's from Uruguay.. ex penarol.. nailed on?
sorry didn’t see this

I’d be surprised if we weren’t interested

Zach Steffen still thinks he goes walkabout too much from his goal & this will cost us points & its the reason city sent him out on loan & dont want him back & he didnt get to go to the world cup so bring back roberts.

He said ' no loans , permanent signings are what we will go for '

Walkabout has been shut for a few years I think, he seems more of a pig iron kind of guy anyway! In all seriousness I think he’s a very good goalkeeper and if the numbers work we would be silly not to sign him up

Cody Drameh 20yo back from Leeds contracted to June 2024

Born in Dulwich ex Fulham Academy
has 1 game under his belt this season
eligible to play for Gambia as well as England

So our squad looks like this

Steffen- Roberts - Daniels
Tommy Smith
Darragh Leinhann- Dael Fry - Matt Clarke - Anfernee Dijksteel - Paddy Mcnair
Ryan Giles - Marc Bola
Hayden Hackney - Jonny Howson - Alex Mowatt - Massimo Luongo
Isiah Jones
Riley Mcgree
Chuba Akpom - Marcus Forss - Duncan Watmore - Matthew Hoppe - Rodrigo Muniz

Outs
Luke Daniels
Massimo Luongo
Alex Mowatt
Rodrigo Muniz

I think it's obvious what we need
First up a right back to compete with Smith, who has been excellent since Carrick came in
2 central midfielders- One holding with an eye to being Howsons long term replacement - One as competition for Hackney
RW as Competition for Jones
LW/CAM as competition for Mcgree

Names? I'd personally like a couple of the linked players
Cody Drameh fits the profile of what we'd like- Young, Attacking was pretty good for Cardiff against us, desperate to get some minutes under his belt and would be pretty cheap being out of contract in the summer
Berlaser - Mightilly impressive for Rotherham the last couple of seasons sitting in front of their defence, North East lad with a lot of goal contributions to, if the gaffer likes him, I like him.
Zidan Iqbal - Word from my United mates are he's one of the best young talents they've got. Similar type of player to Hackney with energy to get up and down would be a very strong loan signing for 6 months see how things go and maybe have a full season next year.
Facundo Pellestri - Loan move for 6 months- Can play all over the front, very highly rated by United, could explode in the championship
Bonus - Cameron Archer - Although I think we'll be okay up top till the end of the season, think the lad ticks all the boxes, genuine talent desperate for minutes, if Muniz goes I'd take a look.

Controversial One - I'd bring George Friend back with a role off field and a very experienced back ymup CB/LB, he yearns to return, he can still do the job, leadership and is one of those I'd say is a Mr Middlesbrough
Get him that 300th game.
