Joelinton

Hendrick was at Burnley. He’s alright yeah, standard low half premier league player. The longstaffs have regressed since getting new contracts. Again Schar and Lascelles is decent but would they get in any top 10 team?? I don’t think they would.
I actually think Burnley quite miss Hendrick. They’ve always been a tough team of battlers etc but last couple of seasons they at least had a bit of quality out wide in McNeil and Hendrick. Now they’re really struggling and can only really fight teams.

I’d say Schar and Lascelles would be there or thereabouts in a Southampton, West Ham or Leeds team etc.

Obviously it’d be unfair to judge those players on their current form. My point is if they were playing for a good ma Agee and therefore playing better than they are at the minute.

We’ve seen the impact a good manager can have on individual players.

Look at our own squad and the general consensus on players last season versus this season.

McNair, last season was a waste of £5m, now he’s a £20m+ man, with the premier league on the horizon.

Bola, last season was “league1 standard” now it’s “will be our left back the years to come”.

Dijksteel, last season was “league1 standard, maybe a player there somewhere”, now we’re wondering if a prem team might come in for him.

Fry, last season “just not good enough for the first team, squad player at best”, now he’s a mainstay with real potential.

Johnson, again “league1 standard” now our most creative player, scoring and assisting etc

Watmore, released by league 1 team, was without a club when the season started, Decembers championship player of the month, January he was being linked with the premier league etc.

Now we’ve bought some questionable players in the past and god knows we’ve wasted enough cash on them... but nothing comes close to this turkey

if you don’t know the Geordies spent £40 million yes 40 million on this plum and he has so far scored a grand total of 1 goal in the premier and a grand total of 3 goals in total.
.....and long may he continue!

He’s their version of Afonso Alves
His 40 million makes the 12 for Alves look like peanuts. It's also clear why we were interested in Alves in the first place, but as someone has mentioned in this thread Joelinton had no goalscoring pedigree anywhere whatsoever and no international caps. Truly bizarre signing.

£60m spent on Joelinton and Almiron .
Joelinton was Reccomended to Boro before the Skunks signed him I was told , as was Wesley at £9m . He eventually went to Villa for £25m
£7m was the fee mentioned ! Not £40m !
BTW we had money at the time but bought Fletcher £7m Saville £7m etc
Could one of these 2 be the winger / forward we have agreed on ? I very much doubt but you never know .

If I could bet my house on it I would. And the bet would be no. They absolutely won’t be.

Yes Almiron is almost as bad a signing as Joelinton, he looks a better footballer than Joelinton and has a few nice touches but his goal return is pitiful.

Watched them for the first time in a while on Monday, they really aren't a very good team.

I like Almiron but he's crying out for someone to "play off" - had to try and do it himself nearly every time on Monday.

Midfield seriously lacks creativity and looked disorganised off the ball. Wilson is dangerous and will probably be picked off by a decent side in a year or two.

Have they developed an alternative list of managerial targets yet? I see PSG just pipped them to the appointment of Pochettino :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It was an odd when he came , I thought are their saying he’s worth £40m so when he score a few goals their can then say he’s worth much more than that or indeed £40m and. Make good profit on his sale . Their big signings were only big in so called transfer fee alone .

it is hard to believe the fee was 40M, doesn't ring true considering his career. he was only 22-23 at the time though. but nevertheless i would love to know where the 40M ended up. bet his agent took a whopping splice of that
