I was at Warwick Uni in 1987 and lived on the outskirts of Cov.

Hard to articulate just how big that Cup run was for the Town but as big for them as 29.2.04 was for Us. Sillett and Curtis were the first joint managers that win the Cup. A partnership with Sillett providing the charismatic press face. A very nice man as well. RIP.

Classic underdogs in that final, absolutely cracking game as well. I have a lot of time for coventry, been through the mill, and like us will never ever be considered a fashionable club but decent fans, unlike Villa.

Good old manufacturing town built on the rich automotive industry history.

Great final, excinng for all the right reasons

They won at Man Utd 1-0 in the 4th round, with St Micks old boy Houchen scoring the only goal

I remember going to an away game when they won at Sheff Weds in the QF stage & the loads of Coventry coaches going in the opposite direction to us

I still have the cup final ticket & programme that my brother gave me

I think they won away in every round in that cup run Except Round 3. I do remember they beat Sheff Wed at Hillsborough in the Quarter Final and then had to go back to play and beat Leeds at Hillsborough in the semi final.

Just been down a magical rabbit hole of FA Cup Final nostalgia on YouTube. Started with the 1987 Final and morphed into various classic finals of the 70s and 80s. I love Youtube for that.

Anyway Sillett will always have a special place in FA Cup history.

The smiles on his face after winning the FA Cup summed him up.

Sillett put together a good team and gave us a memorable cup final and the hope that any team can do it.

RIP
