Once more some posters are quick to have a go at one of their favourite targets, Woody.

Looking back, should he have been appointed our manager? Nope. And it is indisputable it was quite disastrous. What I find puzzling is that whilst Woody gets a load of flak, our Teflon chairman escapes a lot of criticism over Woody’s appointment.Strange that, isn’t it?

As a player, Woody was our best locally born centre back for nigh on 50 years. Class personified. Has he been a Saint in his life? Absolutely not - show me someone who has.

Some on here seem to determined to take any opportunity - or indeed create one- that suits their agenda.

This being from questioning his intellect to the point of ridicule. And for what purpose?

Give it up, people. He had a career in football the majority of us could only dream about. Injury robbed him of countless International caps. Let him get on and determine what he does with his life

As opposed to having a go at Warnock. The irony is incredible. Posters who constantly hammer Warnock every day but are outraged when someone has the audacity to have a go at 'one of our own'. Astounding.

Woody got hammered when he was a manager for us. Warnock is getting it in the neck for poor results. Not irony at all. Both being judged and not succeeding to various degrees.

And you think “ one of our own” means you get some sort of preferential treatment? I think the reverse is more common - ask a Mr Stewart Downing for starters!

And as for NW and a jury being out. This is a manager who, after 40 seasons in the game, has apparently just discovered that diet is an important part of pre match preparation.

I read this and found it pretty staggering to be honest. Obviously intended to deflect criticism from the performance but not sure that's worked out too well!

Surely at this level, you make sure you have breakfast as a group don't you? It's a bit of concern. Particularly given some of the injuries we seem to pick up.

Even NW and his team aren't monitoring too closely what players are eating and when, they must use a nutritionist or something, surely?

Astonished if players aren't given pretty strict guidance around what they should be eating given they're elite athletes in a multi million pound industry.

Do people ever move on, on this forum? The little digs are tiresome. Woodgate is a massive boro fan, was an exceptional player. Lucky to get the managers job, he was way out of his depth... it didnt work out. Seems like people cant wait to get in and have a dig, as Nosmo says particularly people with connections with the area.

Maybe tindall was sacked as they looked like dropping out of the play offs and woodgate kept them in there but that would be a positive spin.

1. Woodgate is the best centre half I've seen play for boro and had it not been for injuries may have been the best centre half I saw play full stop. Outrageous talent.

2. He is a massive boro fan.

3. He was atrocious as a manager. Joint worst with Strachan.

4. He was a massive d!ck as a bloke. Full of himself, rude. I think the testament of those who have been subject to him rather than those who've been hanging on the teet are telling.

I'm sure he's a lot more mature not but even then we all still have our moments.

One of the reasons he is not thought of too fondly by some Boro fans is due to him not doing the decent thing and stepping down, when it became obvious he was going to take us down to League One. Gibson was forced to pull the trigger.

I have no ill-feelings towards him personally, but also can't say I have any particular fondness for him either.

Not at all. Warnock is being hammered for everything, even something about players not eaten breakfast and he was pulled apart for that. You spend most of your time on here picking Warnock up for even the smallest discretions then complain when someone wants to take Woodgate to task. Again, astounding.

And your proof to your sweeping statement about my posts on Warnock is where? If you knew as much as you thought you did you would know I have been a supporter of his. Selective memory it appears,

Woodgate gets far more flak than "Neil" does, but then he doesn't have a bumbag and call out "Good old Boris" like your hero. Fair play to "Neil" his points total is a whopping 0.3 higher than rookie manager Woodgate, so it's fair enough that he escapes your criticism.

Imagine if Woodgate had suddenly discovered the importance of nutrition to a professional sportsperson - he'd be hammered for it and called all the names under the sun.

He was certainly not a big Boro fan up to the age of 16 i can say that as a fact. Did he become one after that point when he was at Leeds? Well it's possible but it would seem odd.
Not that it matters, in fact it's probably a hinderance for a manager.

Debate then! Only Willie Maddren comes near him in my minds eye
Surely Pally is up there too?? Mogga is my personal favourite but that's probably more to do with nostalgia for the era he played in and the fact he lived round the corner from me :)
