How much do you think he influenced carricks thinks on which tactic he wanted to employ

We know woodgate wanted to play attacking front all, he knows that’s what the fans wanted. Do you reckon he made him know….

Carrick's the boss for sure but in interviews he mentioned he is smart enough to listen to his management team, so pretty sure Woodgate has plenty of influence, funny thing when Woodgate was manager we saw the best and worse of him against Hull 2 - 0 up playing some brilliant football then we get a player sent off and we just fell to pieces ended up drawing 2 - 2 as he did not have the experience or nous to handle the sending off, but reckon he will have a very positive input for us!

Carrick has complete confidence in the type of football he wants us to play and doesn’t let any blips in the road change his ethos.

Woody lost confidence after a few bad results and had us setting up like Pulis lite. I think he’s a good coach though and it’s good he can contribute without the pressure.

I think he's been massive. His Boro spell as No1 and Bournemouth. You'd say he's a very experienced No2.

I really want to see the Boro website do an official interview. It must have been hard being asked back. Yet absolutely no doubt he said yes in a heartbeat.

Very much off the radar so far. You've heard nothing from him. I'd love to here how everything came about etc.

Think Ben Gibson spoke about Woodgate quite a bit at one point. Sounds like 1 to 1 coaching is where his strengths lie, really good with the players.

Also has, or at least had, a strong interest in the youth teams which is useful.

I don't think he'll have influenced Carrick on style, probably more likely the fact they were already on the same wavelength is part of what convinced Carrick to bring him on board.

I’ve said before but Woodgate seems a brilliant assistant coach rather than the focal point. He was top quality player so the players will respect that, has been involved in football his whole life so will understand all aspects and seems a decent bloke who can connect with people.

In the build-up last night I noticed him having a big of banter with the ground staff. It’s little things like that that make a difference.

And…..what you ain’t noticing is how disciplined and calm we are under carrick versus woodgate. totally different vibe and belief under carrick
