Under the landmark June 2026 agreement between FIFA and FIFPRO the practice of "freezing out" players is set to cease. Clubs that arbitrarily force players to train alone or exclude them from squads face strict sanctions, including transfer bans, and players are now entitled to full salary compensation if frozen out.

I wonder if this will see an increase in players contracts simply bring paid up to move them on?

Might also make unwanted players a bit of a bargain, or allow them to force moves? They just have to claim (and prove) they're not being played or training with the match day squad maybe?

I don’t think more power in the hands of players is a step forward for the game.

It was right to give more protections, especially as most pro’s don’t actually get paid that much, and the Bosman ruling was entirely correct.

I think the pendulum has swung too far the other way.
