Best place with a decent Lunchtime menu? Wanting to try somewhere new, willing to travel but within reason and we'll have a child with us so probably nothing too high brow...

Places we've already tried what I can think of (and personal ratings):
Bay Horse - Hurworth and Greenhow - Hurworth 9.5/10 exceptional but Greenhow Over rated 6/10
Jet Miners - Ingelby Greenhow - Very very good, home cooked and they dont scrimp on the portions 8.5/10
The Masham - Hartburn - Nice vibe, dog friendly inside, never had any issues, constant 7/10
Manjaros - Ingelby - Go-to for Parmo and more, Sunday dinners also very tasty. Completely different feeling to Middlesbrough one.
White Hart - Hart Village - Not been for a while but old fashioned pub serving hearty homecooked grub
Fox Covert - Yarm 6.5/10, never been wowed
Manor House - Yarm-ish, really like this place for a quick lunch 7/10
Chadwicks - Maltby - Definitely not somewhere i'd go on anything other than a special occasion but food was amazing (and pricey) 8/10
The Falcon - Hilton Portions are huge, definitely do not get a starter! 7/10
Impeccable Pig - Sedgefield - Used to rate very highly but last time we went we where met with rude staff, poor service and lack of choice. Not long after Covid too so you'd think they'd be happy for the custom 4/10
The Dun Cow - Sedgefield - Long time ago but was fine from what i remember 6/10
Spotted Cow - Elton same as above so unfair to score either way 6/10
Tipsy Cow (spot the theme!) - Acklam - My local, always good food and good beer 7.5/10
Rio - Town - 7/10 It is what it is
Turtle Bay - Town - Was ok, prefer to go there for drinks 6/10
Chairman - Bedford street - Really really good and great value 8/10
O'Connells - Bedford street - you wont get better food for the value, perfect if you're already in town or for a stomach lining before the match! 9/10
Fork in the Road - Town 7/10
Persian Cottage - Linthorpe Village - Amazing, somewhere i havent been for a while also but was blown away last time if you're big on meat, would go here over Rio and service was top drawer 9/10
Sutton Arms - Faceby - For me the best Sunday dinner for miles (Just pips Manjaros) 9/10

There will be a lot more ive forgotten...so anything not on the list worth a try?

Never go to Nobby's house for lunch. The chips are awful.

Just looked at your menu Randy, may give it a try next time we find ourselves up there. I usually stay at my sisters in Yarm so we get lazy and end up somewhere in yarm to eat.

I would want sweet chilli with my holoumi sticks though, fair warning!
You can specify a different sauce with your halloumi sticks mate. We do stone baked fresh pizzas now too.

@Nobby_Barnes yeah moved on June last year when the owners of The Oak took over The Buck. Loving life down here.

Hey Randy how you keep your cool when you get a tripadvisor like this?

Waiting several weeks to review
Hated it that much they wanted a return
Apparently let down by colleagues taking their side.

Genuinely interested as as much as i appreciate review sites am often reminded these folk have the vote as well and this type of nonsense has consequences on reputation and employment.

Food not great and possibly microwaved
Called in for a tea time meal. I had the Chicken a la Buck, which came with a small salad in a seperate bowl and chips, also in a seperate bowl.. This was very sickly and far too rich, the checken was smothered in this sauce and was served in a pasta style bowl, so no where to put the salad and ate the chips from the bowl. My husband had the steak pie which was dry and there was no extra gravy. I complained by email but was only advised that this would be highlighted to the chef. We both believe that both meals were microwaved as they were too hot, just to have been cooked fresh. The bar staff asked if we enjoyed the meal and we told them this was not the best meal we have had and we were met with agreement when I said the chicken was too sickly. I would have expected some sort of apology or an offer to return.

Don't really pay attention to trip advisor reviews.
Microwaved because they were too hot? 🤣 Surely it would be the opposite.

You can't please everybody, we know we are **** hot at what we do so all good.
