LUTON PRIORITY POINTS

If there wasn't any sort of points system we would have the situation of the 2014 Play Off Final when any Tom, d*ck, or Harry sitting at home who had never been to game that season could order 3 tickets and get them over fans who had been the half the games that season home and away. The ordering system kept crashing or people devices did, people were online for over 6 hours queuing. Hundreds got into the hands of touts (now the touts have specialist software to beat ordinary fans to tickets). Many dedicated fans doing normal jobs hadn't a chance.

Or the UEFA Final when all Season ticket holders were put into a lottery draw for tickets - is that fairer than a priority points system?

We can still have and use a points system and let people dole out their points as they see fit. If that's allowing a friend, family member or fellow board member in need to use their ticket in lieu of themselves then so be it. It's their own choice if they want to use the points they've earnt to buy a ticket for someone else.

If I had enough tickets for the playoff final and I couldn't make it, I wouldn't be telling my mates and family to eff off in some moral crusade to protect the sanctity of the points system.

I imagine most of you have done it or benefitted from it at some point.

No it isn't. Have a points system as we have and respect people's autonomy to do as they wish with their points.

If you want to live in some purist fantasy where only the people who go to the most games and therefore have the most points are the only people who ever get to attend games then

1. You're gonna be narked off and disappointed because it's never gonna work that way. People will always allow others to go in their place that they know and in some cases you'll get idiots selling tickets above market value (whole different issue and a clean cut one).

2. You're going to alienate a huge amount of people who for whatever reason aren't able to make games every week. Be that age, disability, location etc. who aspire to occasionally get to see a big/important game or join their friends on an away trip.

It doesn't make you more of a Boro fan for having more points.

As said, there's a points system. What people do with their points is their choice. If you don't wanna help the guy out because you don't think it's right, fine. Someone else might want to. Someday it could be you who benefits.

I'd love to have seen some of those judgmental types turn down a UEFA cup final ticket out of moral superiority.

I’m pretty sure the play off final tickets went on sale to ST holders first? Then general sale?

Quite simply restrict tickets to one per season ticket holder. It's not difficult.

The purpose of the priority points system?
No I get that. And the purpose remains even if you let someone else use them when you are not going to. If you equate it with money earned, no one would dream of telling you how to spend your money, would they?

I don't think you do. Or in fact you do and you're trying to wind people up. Either way you're doing a grand job of lobbying for the abolition of the points system, which i'm for, so keep it up.

I am not winding anyone up. I think you can keep the points system without having a pop at someone for asking for help with with points.

Completely with Laughing. Points system kept. People can choose what they do with their points. Simple as. It doesn't undermine anything other than those who want to exclude people because they're not in a position to be able to accrue points. And to those elitist type fans, get lost.

Just do what 75% do mate.

Buy an away ticket and flog it on twitter.

You get points people get tickets.

Point snobs are the worst

Why I mentioned the play off final, was because there were fans who would have had some priority points in todays set up that were ignored in 2015. I did forget Boro Pride was still running in 2014/15, but it does need some sort of equivalent loyalty scheme to run, be it through points or though a Pride Scheme now. Abandonning any form of loyalty points is not a positive move.

UEFA Cup - there were 22,000 season ticket holders? and only 9,500 tickets? all were treated the same even though some had gone to all the European games or held a season ticket for over 10 years, compared to new season ticket holders that season. A points system would have helped differentiate the fan who went to more games.

Ref Touts they tend to be non fans - keen fans want to go to games, not make a quick buck on a ticket. Having no loyalty scheme gives the touts more chance to get hold of tickets.

The current system needs tweaking, but a loyalty scheme is required.

Still remember the hoops I jumped through to get a ticket at Luton in Robbos first season and joining Luton's membership scheme. After that result I was never daft enough to do it again.

It did come in useful for the Ayresome game though.

I lived in Stoke at the time, went to most games but it was difficult to get in queues for popular games due to working Mon - Fri and not being able to travel back over M62 easily midweek
