LUTON PRIORITY POINTS

Why I mentioned the play off final, was because there were fans who would have had some priority points in todays set up that were ignored in 2015. I did forget Boro Pride was still running in 2014/15, but it does need some sort of equivalent loyalty scheme to run, be it through points or though a Pride Scheme now. Abandonning any form of loyalty points is not a positive move.

UEFA Cup - there were 22,000 season ticket holders? and only 9,500 tickets? all were treated the same even though some had gone to all the European games or held a season ticket for over 10 years, compared to new season ticket holders that season. A points system would have helped differentiate the fan who went to more games.

Ref Touts they tend to be non fans - keen fans want to go to games, not make a quick buck on a ticket. Having no loyalty scheme gives the touts more chance to get hold of tickets.

The current system needs tweaking, but a loyalty scheme is required.
Uefa Cup final was a cruel farce. I'm all for having a loyalty system and think points works well. Just not for the moral absolutism and complete shutout that it can lead to for a lot of fans. 9/10 someone with the most points decides they want a ticket and gets the ticket they want. Occasionally life happens and they can't make it, if they choose to nominate someone to take their place, their shout.

It's not commonplace and it isn't going to be by design.

Why would anyone be against a points system? Surely the fairest system for in demand games is that priority goes to the fans who've been to most games?
I am for a points system as I think it's the best solution for an impossible problem.

The counter argument is though that it creates a closed shop where the same fans get to see the club live in all the biggest games all the time.

This disenfranchises a lot of existing fans and young fans for the future.

There's many reasons people can't go to games. Living abroad, yes it's by choice but life is complex. Health issues. Financial woes.

Does having attended more games make you a bigger fan? I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to boro but I've got family members who go to more games than me and don't know some of the players in the current squad.

Then there's the issue of whether if you can't make it should you refrain from using your points to obtain a ticket for a family member or friend? If you do then does it undermine the points system?

It is tough and I see both sides of the argument. I think a points system where occasionally people are helped out by friends or family who can attend more regularly than they can seems to be the fairest meeting point.

Completely with Laughing. Points system kept. People can choose what they do with their points. Simple as. It doesn't undermine anything other than those who want to exclude people because they're not in a position to be able to accrue points. And to those elitist type fans, get lost.
A priority system excludes people anyway, it creates a closed shop. Your advocating the thing your arguing against, the elitist fans are the ones who don’t want to give anything away to anyone

Literally the only thing that is a closed shop when it comes to our loyalty scheme is the Gold Card status and the Chairman's Drink Status.....and I hope they correct that for next season.

Everything else is fair and open and available for everyone.

Like has previously been said, most away games reach general sale, so there's plenty of opportunities for fans to build up their points, in order to stand a better chance of bagging high in demand away tickets - such as Sunderland away, Huddersfield away, Luton away, away leg in the Play offs, etc.

Are they still a thing with a priority system?
Yes, but only those who have previously had an away season ticket will have an opportunity to have one the following season.

I believe when they were first advertised and on sale (a few years ago) about 100 were sold?

Not sure how many fans still have an away ticket? Rob will probably know as I believe he's one of those who took advantage of it.

They shouldn’t be a thing now

I have had an away season ticket for the past decade and have attended every away league match in that time - am not alone in this. That is why we are on the list we go to all the games. We have to buy the tickets of course.
What happens if you can't go to the game? Do you get a refund or still have to pay for the ticket?

But the priority system should work for every fan in the same way, if you have one

i thought you missed one just 3 weeks ago?

You don’t need points. You just get a ticket sent and of course you do then get the points. It’s up to you what you do with the ticket because the club don’t do refunds.

No idea - I go to all the games.
Originally I had to buy all the tickets in advance every year - it was then considerably more than a home season ticket. Like £800 or so. Not something you would buy if you didn't intend on going to everything. I don't know how much it will work out as for this season yet but you pay full price, plus a ticket office charge - so again it is far more than a home season card. If you think about the different prices and how they are all pretty much higher than the home discounted rate.
It simply would not be worth anyone's while to buy an away season ticket just to jump a queue for the Luton game.
