Madness on Friday

Was a great day. Uno Momento for tea with a window seat to people watch, loads going past in their gear, then got in for the end of Hollie Cook. Craig Charles played some good tunes, and Madness were class. Couple of kick offs, particularly amused by one odd lad in a hiviz thinking he could barge about in the crowd near the stage, and a vocal lass behind me giving some pizzed n)bs a good telling off for jumping all over everyone. Plenty of space for those who wanted to 'express their emotions through dance' without crashing into lasses. Nothing major, and didn't spoil anyone's night. Got out quick (would have been quicker if I'd seen the sign for the urinals rather than waiting for a toilet - but it was great to see so many lads letting the ladies in first😀) and then a bus home for 2 quid!

Really enjoyed it , only gripe, would have liked to see more of Holie Cook & less of Craig Charles, purely because I prefer live music to DJ mixing any day. Well done Stewarts Park & the Boro

Thought people were enjoying the music more after Craig Charles left the stage. Some of his stuff was fine but he did not judge what the crowd, who was pretty varied agewise, would like. Heard a few complaint but as I said I thought some of it was decent.

Somebody commented "Its great for our small town to have these big bands". It kind of struck a chord - a kind of - Teesside has its parks and it has The Riverside. We can do so much more and hopefully, word will get out that there is scope and potential for big groups to play on Teesside. It`s not a choice of Leeds or Newcastle. The people in the town and from afar have shown they`l support big gigs, attend in numbers and create the sort of atmosphere which encourages the hunger for more. (y)

I'd completely agree with 90% of that.
Craig Charles completely read the room wrong with half his set, which is weird as he has a huge musical span on his Sat night show.
As much as love disco /hip hop / house /funk ..
It wasn't that crowd last night.
Also his " mixing" was abysmal yesterday, I'd of presumed it was pre mixed , if it wasn't as scruffy as it was 🤔
He should of been on first imo.
Thought hollie cook was really really good, the whole thing priced right, and a good happy party atmosphere

Overall it was a very fun night

We went in the Steelies before and they had a DJ playing Madness, The Specials, The Beat, Bad Manners, etc. There was a good atmosphere in there.

If I had the cash , I'd definitely look at putting on something like today's all dayer event, but with a 2 tone / ska / reggae vibe .
Selecter / The Beat / Neville Staples / Holly Cook etc with some local djs in between..
There is definitely enough appetite for it

Should go to this always a cracking day and usually sells out

went last year to Blam Blam Fever, brilliant. Loads of bands and a really good atmosphere. Got my early bird ticket as soon as they came out.
