Michael Carrick in this afternoon`s media conference was asked specifically about him: he said that Massimo is training every day and working on his match fitness. He also emphasised that there is a "clean slate" - "everybody has a chance". Sounds like there will be opportunities if he works hard and shows what he`s capable of. Carrick also said there has to be "balance" in the team - so now is his chance.

Ive noticed in the training session podcasts that hes scored a few screamers in top corner, looks like he knows where the goal is. I know its a different kettle of fish in a real game

He didn't have a torrid season.
He started 19 of Sheffield Wednesday's final 23 games, playing the full 90 minutes in every game he started.
He only missed 3 matches in 2022 for them, and one of them was through suspension.
He's been fit since last November, he's not coming back from injury, he just hasn't played since leaving Sheff Wed in the summer.
I think Carrick was being polite.
