McGree and Silvera

McGree is nice and tidy on the ball, can spot a decent pass and can finish. The 'only' thing holding him back is bit of lack of pace, which could hinder him in the prem, if he gets the chance.
 
I think McGree is one of those players who will improve around better players. I could see him having a good career at the likes of Crystal Palace. All providing he can manage his foot issue. If he can't, he's badly screwed.

Wouldn't mind betting he's hoping for a call from Spurs but Levy will probably never trust us again after we persuaded him that Spence was worth £12m.
 
In my opinion McGree is the best attacker we currently have, and was just as good as Tav, albeit in a different way.

Similarly Silvera I think does offer us something and people have been quick to write him off for a couple of high profile misses.
 
Does anyone know if MFC get compensation from FIFA or the Australian FA for their national services?
 
I watched the game vs Syria. Being brutally honest the pair of them were really poor. Particularly Silvera. Had a pass completion of about 0% and got yellow carded which could have been a red. McGree getting dispossessed easily. I know it doesnt mean much in the grand scheme but highlights that the level our players are at, inconsistency is their biggest problem.

Shows you how people see things differently.
One Australian news report I read said that when McGree came on he showed why he should be starting, he added a creative spark. Said there was a clear correlation between McGree playing and Australia looking more dangerous.

Silvera's pass completion was 73.8%
Not great but better than 0% 🙂
 
McGree's major contribution to the game was he was the intended recipient of the ball that was deflected to the player who scored. Spent much of the game running with the ball and being easily tackled. As McGree entered the pitch at the same time as two others its hard to state clearly he was so influential. Not from my view. The guy Bacchus who came on at the same time was far more influential. Took control of midfield and got things moving forward.
Obviously all my comments were meant to be taken literally but 73.8% pass completion is awful. Awful. And I imagine if you eliminate passes shorter than 3m I would wager that figure goes down by half.

There was some talk about us being interested in him last summer. Don't know how legit it was. According to Transfermarkt, his contract is up at the end of the season. Plays for St Mirrin alongside Zach Hemming so I wonder if he's on our radar.

Also discovered they have a central defender called Elvis. Doesn't play very much because I think he's registered part-time. Rest of the time, he apparently works in a chip shop.

Aussies struggled a little overall but deserved the win. Stand out players were a chap at Centre back called Soutar (which reminded me of Oor Wullie even though he looked like Richard Dunne's uglier brother) and the lad who scored (think called Irvine ??)

Souttar plays for Leicester they bought him from Stoke last January for £15-20 million after a decent showing at the World Cup.

I remember them buying him now. He stopped everything going near him and looked really good carrying the ball forward Alan Hansen style.
 
I'm not following the tournament. I mean who is?!

But surely Oz are one of the four best, so they'll be gone til the semis, probably final?
 
South Korea are second favs to win the Asian Cup behind Japan the last time I looked. Its a tough q/final draw for the Aussies.
