Looks like another in the long list of overweight unfit players we seem to attract.

He looks at least 2 stone overweight and could give that big bloke at Wycombe a run for his money when it comes to getting a fry-up

Might just be able to replace BA and CA but that wouldn't be asking much.

Running round the pitch yesterday he looked like a fat bloke down the pub,I think you are being generous with 2 stone, He looked clinicaly obese to me.

For three and a half years I have seen and heard utter idiots defend a fat, lazy useless waste of space called "Britt" waddle around the pitch in a half arsed way.

Mendez Laing has played a quarter of a match after the first team play appalingly.
Thanks for posting the video montage as it gives me hope that the lad can get fitter quickly and if he plays anything like on the video he will do more than Assombolonga could ever do - or ever has.

Give this lad a break, he at least deserves one.

I will happily give him a break if he starts behaving like a proffessional footballer and gets rid of the timber.

I remember me dad telling me about the time he was at Wembley and this little fat bloke run out for the opposition. That night this guy destroyed England almost single handedly, his name ....Puskas!! Well, we can dream !!!

For many individuals in treatment for cocaine dependence, weight gain is a substantial problem during recovery. This weight gain causes significant distress and seems to increase the risk of relapse. The mechanisms underlying cocaine's effects on weight remain elusive. It is widely assumed that this weight gain reflects a metabolic or behavioural compensatory response to the cessation of cocaine use. Here we challenge this assumption and outline potential mechanisms by which chronic cocaine use produces disturbances in the regulation of fat intake and storage, through its effects on the central and peripheral nervous systems, specifically the sympathetic nervous system. We hypothesize that the cocaine-induced alteration in fat regulation results in cocaine users developing a pronounced appetite for fatty food but keeps their fat mass low. This altered fat appetite subsequently leads to excessive weight gain when individuals enter treatment and stop using cocaine. Our aim is to shed light on the neurobiological mechanisms that may underlie the alterations in eating and fat regulation in cocaine-dependent individuals, to open up potential new avenues to support these individuals in recovery.

That's interesting Wilf, it would be the right thing to do to support him as his employer, that being the case, but he does need to loose that weight to have any chance as a proffessional footballer, maradonna and puskas aside.

Assume you are referring to Akinfenwa? Think he is anything but fat...

If this really is a consideration you have to wonder why the hell we bought this player.

Oh so thats alright then. He is fat and overweight because he has been taking class A drugs. ? Maybe we should make him captain.

I couldnt believe the size of him when I seen the game, I always think of John Robertson the classy overweight, fag smoking winger Forest winger when I see these type of players, not the same talent wise mind

Exactly. MFC is a football club, not a benevolent home for footballing waifs and strays who have gone off the rails.

Surely Warnock would have looked at him when he turned to sign the papers and thought "hold on a second".

It's only 11 weeks to the end of the season. If this bloke manages to lose a stone a month he'll still be overweight by June.

Why does he "deserve one" he's tested positive for recreational drugs twice in a year - hardly professional behavior...
It is not professional behaviour at all.
But:
1. It wasn't here.
2. He has served his punishment.
3. He has come here to get back to his best.
4. His best is considerably better than we currently have.
5. He has been here less than a fortnight and played less than a half.

So he doesn't deserve one, you just want him to do well because it'll benefit Boro - that's fine, so do I.

But to suggest someone who got caught TWICE in a year taking a banned drug somehow "deserves" a chance is just bizarre.
