Messi

I’d be very disappointed if he took that. Sure, it’s an absurd amount of money but still.
I wouldn't. He's won everything and has nothing left to prove. I'd b***r off too at the age of 35 if they offered me that amount of money for a couple of years. Sets you up for life and you can do a lot of good with it afterward.

I just think it’s a pretty rubbish way to bow out. “Oh I went to play Sunday League in the desert but it’s alright cos they paid me enough dosh to buy my own country. Balls to winning the Champions League one last time”.

Mind you joining PSG wasn’t much different.

He is not going to win the Champions League with PSG or even Barcelona if he goes back there. There are too many other squads much stronger than them two. He'd most likely have to play on to Stanley Matthews retirement age to have a chance at those clubs.

Well I didn’t say I wanted him to join one of those clubs. Napoli (obvious spiritual connection), Inter, Bayern Munich, Arsenal. Maybe even go back to Newell’s Old Boys or something.

Imagine he went to Arsenal and helped them win the title next season. What a way to bow out for his legacy.

But yeah, they’d only be able to afford a pitiful £250/300k a week I expect. Non-starter.

I only mentioned Barca as that seems to be the only club with an interest. For the others, I think without an Arab owner, its a non starter, he costs a fortune.

“Sets you up for life”

😁

Are you suggesting Messi isn't "set up for life" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♂️

Sounds like he is going back to Barca.

Apparently he has personally been in touch with Xavi due to his contract ending this summer and Barca have gone to the Spanish FA with their financial plan to get the green light. Apparently it includes a new Messi Museum in which the profits will contribute to his wage/bonus - not clear which.

Matchday revenue for Barca is going to be down next season as they move to that other stadium which only holds around 50k
