MET POLICE INVESTIGATING NO 10

About bloody time.

ITV News Story (The link won't work because it has 'd*ck' in the title :ROFLMAO: )

"The Metropolitan Police will investigate allegations of Covid-rule-breaking parties in Number 10, Commissioner Dame Cressida d*ck has confirmed.

Until now the force had repeatedly rejected calls for an investigation to be launched, insisting there was not enough evidence to start a investigation - and that it was not policy to retrospectively look into Covid breaches.

But reporting by ITV News - and other news outlets - has provided documentary evidence, as well as anecdotal, that coronavirus rules were broken on Downing Street throughout the pandemic.

Leaked material - including a video of Number 10 staff joking about attending a party and an email inviting more than 100 staff to attend one - has made it harder for the Met to resist pressure for a probe."

Was always going to be. Interesting thing is though that Gray was reporting to Johnson, the Met aren't. Or shouldn't be. But it won't get that far, Cressida will see to that. Nothing to see here. She'll oversee the shooting of a random bloke on the tube, that should take the heat off.
Evening All ....'Not in the public interest.....not enough evidence to prosecute........move away lads nothing to see here.....now turn out your pockets please'

if I remember the coppers prosecuted the organisers of illegal lockdown parties, so if they can't prove beyond reasonable doubt that Johnson was the one that actually organised them he's off the hook, with a single mighty bound he was free.

Peston:

“ BREAKING: Sue Gray will not publish her partygate report while the Met police investigate. So it will not be published this week and probably not for many weeks. This is some kind of reprieve for the prime minister. She will continue her investigation though”

Perfect timing, nice one D!ck.

Utterly complicit in this. Allow the liar in chief to cling to the keys on No.10 a little longer. Disgusting but unsurprising.

So far everything that has happened is in the public domain and according to the MET, never reached the threshold for investigation.

The question is, has Sue Gray or the MET found something we don't know about, something worse than what we know?

Hopefully but I seriously doubt it.

Seems likely that this will be used as a delaying tactic and the eventual outcome in a month or two will be that the spirit of the rules were breached in principle, but there is insufficient evidence for a criminal prosecution.

Then Sue will chip and say, yeah I found the same.

This is nonsense. Dominac Raab has been very clear that the police do not investigate crimes that have happened in the past.

And he should know, he is the Justice Secretary.

Grant Shapps (who wasn't at the party) has also been very clear.

There were not 30 people there
it was in a room used by people all day for meetings
and somebody thought it was a nice idea to get a cake.

I don't think I've ever been able to describe accurately an event I wasn't at, fair play to Shapps.

I think it's utterly transparent and has been the plan for a while. Hence Johnson and the Cabinet trotting out the line "need to wait for the outcome of the inquiry" like broken records.

Police report will find insufficient evidence for a prosecution, the inquiry will find Johnson broke the rules and took the ****. But it'll be caged in far more diplomatic language than that, and it'll take months.

By which point spring will have started and they'll be hoping COVID will be pretty much over (as far as they're concerned, tough luck if you're vulnerable). People won't care as much, his rebels will have run out of steam and Johnson keeps his grubby little grasp on power.
