Middlesbrough Women FC - New Kit Sponsor.. and their badge.

They have won their opening two games which is a good start and they play Newcastle ladies in a few weeks who have just been taken over by the Geordies full time.
Good comeback from 2-0 down from the girls today. Newcastle will be a big test though. And they're likely to be the biggest rivals for the one promotion spot to the Premier Division.

Would have liked to see the Boro/Newcastle game being held at the Riverside. Newcastle and Sunderland have both had games at the men's ground recently and it would have been a really good way to drive up visibility of a team that many might not be aware of. Could have been well marketed as a week of derbies at the Riverside (Boro/Sunderland on the Monday, Boro/Newcastle women on the Thursday). And I think it could have been successful in drawing in a few thousand rather than the few hundred they'll bget at Stockton.

As long as they don’t vote or drive then eh
I'm very cynical about the new owners at Newcastle. But you've got to say that they have been much better at funding and drawing attention to their women's team than our local owner has. And I'm a fan of Steve Gibson.

They've held a game at St James Park, funded the side properly and promoted them on social media. Boro haven't done any of those things. And whilst I get that funding might be a lot to ask, the other two things are easy enough to do. The last time they tweeted about the Boro women's team was in 2014, even though we hosted three women's international matches in that time and the national team winning the Euros. Neither of those times did Boro think of giving a shout out to our own local Women's team!

I don't know if there's any interaction behind the scenes. But from the outside looking in it just seems that Gibson has no interest in investing in women's football locally. Which is a shame, because Boro are meant to be a community club, women and girls are part of that community.

And, let's be honest, getting beaten by the Saudi Arabians when it comes to investing in/promoting women's football is pretty depressing.
